Post Just got fitted for my TAP.
Well after really struggling even more with being tired in last year I finally making steps to make things for the best hopefully.

I went to a sleep study however the results came back with no signs of apnea, but they noticed alot of RLS.  I really didnt get much sleep and wasnt happy with the center.

My wife works for a dentists who owns a sleep clinic so he set me up with a take home monitor.  The results came back saying in 6 hours i had 75 events.  I dont know alot of the details.  However i know the most my oxygen level went down to was 88 and median was 92 maybe?  I forget.  So it seems like i fall more in a moderate?

Well today i got the impressions and in a few weeks i should have it back..  I sure hope it helps increase my energy and decrease the anxiety i tend to have anymore.

So once i wear this TAP device will i feel the results and being "refreshed" within a couple nights?

I am back at work now and dont have time to read all forums right now. Just thought someone would like to give a lil feedback.

Thanks

Sociald,

I noticed a significant improvement in how I felt the first night I used the TAP3. I won't say I was ready to go take on Mt Everest but compared to how I'd been feeling in prior months and how I felt while trying to acclimate to the CPAP it was pretty significant for me. For me I had no real problems right off, slept through the night too. For the first couple of weeks I had sore jaws but they sent bite tabs to exercise with every morning and that went away in about an hour. My dentist also keeps checks to make sure my bite hasn't changed. I initially started at 2 full turns. I've gradually moved up to the 7 mark (mm or cm I forget which). That seems to be the most comfortable and after 2 months I rarely use the bite tabs in the morning or have any pain. The difference though is amazing, I actually feel human. Now, if I can just get off the Lunesta I'll be doing pretty good.

Something else I will say is don't expect immediate results. I actually had mine remade after the first week because the top was slipping. I didn't realize how much it was helping until I went that next week without it. You may get an immediate relief but that is probably largely dependent on the cause of your apnea and it will take some time to titrate the device to the appropriate setting for you. Take it slow, be patient and good luck.

Dont like the restrictive feeling of it holding my mouth shut.. but hopefully i get used to it! Laughing

So, any word on how it went? The holding part didn't really bother me much and it's easy enough to engage so you should get used to that. It's no worse than having Alien wrapped around your face.  Wink

Well,  I have had it for about 4 or 5 nights now.  The first couple nights were kind of awkward.
However I am not getting a little more used to it.  I am adjusting it about a half of turn a night.

As for my snoring it has decreased some and it is not as loud.  My wife actually slept in bed all night last night,
with ear plugs but she was able to make it.  She is a very light sleeper.

I have been on vacation the last 4 days so cant really give estimate on my energy level on a normal day.

Hopefully over next few days the more it adjusts out i will see an increase in energy.

The worst part is when i wake up in morning.  It definitely feels like the mouth piece has grew three times its size and its ready to come out.

I dont have much pain in my jaw or anything yet, but i think the adjustments are starting to get a little further now.

I do seem to have got this swollen saliva duct since i put this in my mouth which is a lil sore and swollen.....  from my research its called a parotid gland/stenson duct.

will update in couple days  Smile

Ok.. well its now been about one week.
My mouth is feeling better and i have become pretty used to the mouthpiece.

Snoring is definitely not as loud.  Wife has slept with me all week (with ear plugs).

As for energy level,,,,,,,, it might be a lil better in the morning.  But i still dont feel like i have peak energy.
Maybe it will take time?

I have it adusted about half way out... been doing 1 turn a night..

Well,   its been about a month and half now....  I was feeling better for a while.  But i still have alot of bad days.
Last few weeks I have woke up pretty tired and alot of anxiety... Almost getting discouraged.   I was hoping this would help my energy and also my anxiety
but i keep having these setbacks.  It might be something unrelated and probably is,,,, but was hoping at 45 days i would be "cured".  Still adjusting mouth piece out.. Not sure how far it is now.  Maybe around 5mm dunno for sure.  Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
