Post Allergies & C pap
Hi,
Is there any other allergy suffers out there like myself.
Does Cpap cause allergy rhinitus to worsen?
I have severe allergies and I take monthly shots and had them under control
until this spring and they just went throught the roof.
Even with the shots Istill have to take my meds and use my nasal spray.
I have been on Cpap since Mar.21,2008 and they have seem to have worsened
this year.I recently found out that my machine was missing a hepa filter and it has since been replaced. It's been a little better since I did that, but I still have bouts of sneezing and running nose & post nasal drip.
I also moved my machine from off the carpeted floor and onto my night stand.
As far as the Cpap goes I love it it has made such and improvment in my overall energy level
and I feel like a different person.
Has anyone else had any issues like this and how did you solve the problem?
Thanks and God bless ,
 Very Happy

Post Should Improve
My overnight allergies improved greatly. If you have particale allergies, I would think they would improve --  mine did as I'm now breathing through a HEPA filter which should for the most part filter the large allergens.

I have environmental allergies.  My allergies have actually improved.  I have a Respironics Auto CPAP and I use both the fine and the coarse filter in it.  I'm also using a full face mask.  I don't suffer like I used to.

My question would be, are you allergic to molds?  Do you live in a humid area?  What's your practice with your humidifier?  Are you washing your hose and gear as recommended?

That's all I can think of that may make things worse  Very Happy

Good luck!

black mould can grow in mask and airhose and perhaps in humidifier if you have one
nasal or sinus irrigation is good for nose allergies, info on the net or there may be a sticky here somewhere

First I would like to thank you all for your responses.
I am allergic to mold and dust plus pretty much all pollen trees and grass so I try to keep my machine as clean as possible.
Also different chemical smells really set off my allergies.
I clean my mask weekly with Joy detergent.
I've cleaned the hose 3 times since I had my machine.
I have had the machine for 8 weeks.
I take a damp paper towel and wipe my mask every night.
I wash my filter weekly and then nightly I wipe it with a paper towel.
I'ts seems like I have a good day where they don't bother me and then they flare up and my nose runs and I sneeze a dozen times in a day.
I take my claratin ,flonase daily but nothing seems to be helping this year.
I have an Appt.with the allergist this month so I am hoping to get some answers.
I refuse to give up on my Cpap its wonderful.
Thanks for listening,
Robin Smile

Post Burning in my nasal passages
I posted earlier this month about my allergies.
I went to the allergist today and I still have allergies no worse than before.
The Dr.has me me on Sinulair and Allergra.
I wanted to check to see if anyone has problems with your nasal passages
burning and iritated.
It seems to be worse in the morning when I first wake .
Sometimes I sneeze and my nose just drips.
This lasts a couple of days to a week.
Has anyone had the problem of your nasal passages burning or iritated with the use of Cpap ?
Just still trying find the answer as to why this has happened.
thanks    Cool
