This was the second time I have had kidney stones in 2 1/2 years.  All I can say is oh my god that was so painful, they gave my 3 shot of morphine and 1 shot of tordal and it barley took the edge off the pain.  Infact by 5 hours into it the morphine was not even effective at numbing the pain.  All it did was make me throw up.  The pain was so bad as to be indescribable.  But if they would have given me a gun I would have shot my kidney out.  Anyone else out there had these stones?.  

On a CPAP note, my wife brought my CPAP machine to the hospital, and when I finally passed the stone and could get some sleep I did use the CPAP and was really grateful for the machine.  It gave me real comfort to know that after all the hard drugs they gave me I would note stop breathing and die because I had my machine to take care of me.  No body was really monitoring me in the hospital room, and basically they seem like they did not care about me or my pain.

Oh, that sounds terrible, and sad that it seemed that no one really cared about you in the hospital.  I've never had kidney stones, but I know someone who did, and it's something I hope never to experience.  I'm glad you finally passed it, and hope you're feeling much better.  And let's here it for CPAP machines!  That must have been a real comfort after all the pain.

Sleepytime

I have a hard time with kidney stones. I have Crohns disease and that causes me more stones. The last stone I had sent me into renal failure! Now I am getting used to having Chronic Kidney Disease. I am stage 4 of 5 stages. Kidney stones are a bummer. I didn't notice the pain as I am on pain meds anyway. Hope you don't have to go through that again!

Hi Haku,

Been there done that (just a week or so ago).  I was give the 2 you were plus another that I dont remember and they gave me 3 other meds that i was in too much pain to give a rats beeeeep about.  That was my 3rd time with them and i am fighting with the VA about them (I was exposed to many things that are know to cause kidney & liver problems).   I had the same problem with the ER Dr not caring but i got a tech to at least monitor my O2 levels (the alarm was going off every 30 seconds or so till they put me on O2).  I did have a nice nap in the CT scan (at least i think it was nice, they had me totaly stoned).

Had one for the first time a month ago. Wow -- that was some pain. I thought it was my appendix at first.  

Would just as soon that be my last experience.
