Post Update on my sons sleep apnea
We found out earlier this year that my now 19th old had mild sleep apnea. They sent us to an ENT for eval on tonsils/adnoids.  We didn't get to see the Reg Ped ENT but seen a  Resident instead. He said his tonsils were not enlarged and after trying to tell him everything that has went on, he walked out and consulted with the Reg ENT dr. He suggested doing the scope down his nose. He told us his adnoids where fine  but he had Laryngomalacia and the area around his voice box was swollen and put him back on reflux meds. He avoided any questions I had about the sleep apnea. So we asked his Ped to refer us to another ENT for a 2nd opinion.

This ENT was awesome. He said he has an "anatomically significant site of chronic airway obstruction with a markedly retrognathic mandible and relatively large tongue" So his jaw is not supporting his tongue with is letting his tongue fall back into his airway. He also has an openbite and is a mouth breather. He set up an appointment with a Maxillofacial team to let us know what can be done or if anything can be done.

But he is also reviewing records to see what types of "issues" he has been evaluated for including physical development and mental development. He got records from the Genetics Dr we have been seeing but no genetic testing has been done.

I am happy he is being evaluated but scared at the same time.
Thanks for reading....

Angela,

I am glad you found a proactive doctor that listens to your concerns. I hope they continue to work well together to solve all the mysteries :)
