Bad smell in tubing!

Post Bad smell in tubing!
I've noticed that my tubing always ends up having a really unpleasant smell. Esp late in the night. I've been washing it out daily, and hanging it to dry, but it still ends up smelling. It is true thyat there is always a little residual water in it. I use dishwashing liquid to clean it. Not sure if I have some sort of unkillable fungus in there? I'm reluctant to clean it with bleach, as I'll then have to inhale that all night. Any ideas? Time to get a new hose?

You could try cleaning the hose with a 1:1 vinegar/water solution first.  If necessary, a baking soda rinse will remove the vinegar smell.

If that doesn't work, then you could try cleaning your hose with chlorine bleach: Rinse with a dilute solution of bleach, rinse with water to remove most of the bleach, rinse with 1:1 vinegar/water solution to remove the residual chlorine, rinse with water to remove the vinegar.  You could follow up with a baking soda rinse to remove the vinegar smell.  The usual warnings about doing this in a well ventilated area and that bleach is a nasty chemical that damages CPAP parts, skin, clothing, and other stuff.

Have you made sure that the smell is not coming from the machine or humidifier?

Your right Bearded One  after thoroughly cleaning the hose, I think I would be looking at the humidifier next and maybe also check the filter on the machine.

I have found that when  there is an odor...no matter how much I clean things it is usually my humidifier runs low on water or I need to change the filters.

Post BAD SMELL IN TUBING
I WASH MY MASK DAILY WITH A HAND LIQUID SOAD CONTAINING DISINFECTANT, THEN ONCE A WEEK I PUT BOTH THE MASK AND THE TUBING IN A BASIN FILLED WITH WATER CONTAINING SANITIZER FOR BABY BOTTLES AND NIPPLES FOR AT LEAST  AN HOUR.

Antibacterial liquid hand soap and antibacterial dishwashing liquid can cause deterioration of the mask soft parts.  It doesn't matter to some people, to otters it does.
