Hi everyone,
I've never had this problem before, and I think the mask I am using is a bit too big for me, but I've noticed for the last couple of weeks I've had this almost scarry dry spot in the middle of my upper lip. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you get rid of it? It's driving me crazy, I've been putting chapstick on it, vaseline, nothing is getting rid of it. It's almost like my lip is frozen right there, and very tight.

I really haven't a clue but can suggest that you try a little KY when you go to bed with the mask.  Vasoline and other things that are petroleum based can damage the mask if if comes in contact..KY will not.  I do get that type of chap lip everyonce in awhile  (though not a full face mask user)...if I can, for the life of me, remember what i found to cause it and to clear it up I will let your know.

What is your fluid intake?  Now that summer is here, people need more fluids.  If you live in a dry climate, you need even more.  Unless you are on fluid restrictions by your doctor, I would try more fluids, and like Mrs. Rip Van Winkle suggested, KY jelly.  You can apply chapstick or vaseline during waking hours, then wash your face and lips before bed. You may also want to ask your sleep doctor about humidification.  Hopefully these suggestions will help.  Lantern4life

I had posted in a thread that I had really dry skin after using the Cpap and did not before. what helped me is I did drink more water as well as I did a sugar scrub to get all the dry skin off and then a really good moiturizer. Making sure I did not moisturize right before bed so I would not get it on the mask. And what do you know my skin has not been as dry. Water is a big issue sense we loose it fast. And then with air leaking on our face it does not help. I also use my humidifier and that helpes as well.

Rosanna, maybe the spot is not just a spot caused mask irritation.  If it doesn't begin to heal up soon, perhaps a doctor should look at it.

Yes, I was using the humidifier on the unit for a long time, then because of the humidity here, I stopped for now. I don't remember having this 'spot' when I used the humidifier. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
