Post question about CPAP...
Hi!
I have had OSA for about 10 years. My CPAP is that old as well. Ive replaced the mask several times, but the machine keeps going strong. From this forum, Ive learned that technology has made quite a few advances since I got my machine years ago. Now there is a heated humidifier? It plugs in?
What about what some are calling "auto adjust" machines..
how do they work? The machine automatically knows what pressure you need when you breathe?
I know a new machine is right around the corner for me...and these new things have me curious.
Thanks!!

Sleepygirl,

It's good that you're asking questions.
Yes, there is an auto cpap which just what you describe, although it is set to a range.  I don't have an auto, and I understand it's not for everyone, but you should read up on it by checking out the topics and posts here.  Straight cpap may be just fine for most people, for the auto is more expensive.  But whatever machine you consider getting, you should ask about their features.  Some record only compliance, or how often you use the machine.  Others record more information than that.

Yes, there is the heated humidifer, and I strongly recommend getting that with your next machine.  The water is heated, yet you can regulate how heated, or use it as a cool passover.  It gives you options.  It can really help soothe your throat, and replenish the moisture lost through the use of cpap air forced down your throat.  It can really help!

Feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

Linda
