She had her sleep study last night. It was truly a fight to get her to sleep. I think she was just *overly* exhausted. She kept twitching, flailing her arms, picking at things and just keeping herself busy so that way she didn't have to fall asleep. It took 2 hours to get her to finally crash. She was making me mad because I had kept her up till 1am the night before, woke her up at 7am and she got NO naps at all yesterday and for some strange reason (probably had everything to do with her environment and all the !@#! on her) she took FOREVER!!! to fall asleep.
The good news is that I believe that we got some pretty accurate results. Of course, I did not sleep pretty much the whole time. Her HR took a few dips, and her O2 sats dropped very often. average range was quite low, between 93 and 95 the whole night with long periods of it staying around 90. I asked the technician how she did and she said that she is not really supposed to give results because she cannot actually read them, but she did tell me that she does struggle to breathe at night and that the doctor would call me with a plan of action. I really hope that it is only oxygen they put her on. I don't believe that it is obstructive unless it is her airways closing off (such as tracheomalacia) because her tonsils and adenoids are never big and she doesn't snore all the time. I don't think she would tolerate the CPAP at all. They said that the doc would be calling me within two weeks with the results. Hopefully they call before because I'm so anxious to know what happened!!! She only got a total of five hours sleep too, so I can imagine if they recorded a whole 12-14 hour period that she usually sleeps at night!
What are normal CO2 levels for a 2 1/2 year old?
