I am glad to hear that some of you are happy with your DME. It gives me hope! Today my sleep doctor called me and he was so nice! He talked about the data from the Elite I had borrowed for two weeks. I think I said one week in my other post, but it was two. He told me that the mask leaks were minimal but that my AHI was too high. He mentioned another full study but when I asked if I could use an Auto Vantage at home instead, he said that was a great idea. He wrote a prescription for me to try the Vantage for two months and offered to send it to the RT. So that gave me an opening to tell him that I feel that I can't work with that RT or with the DME he works with and I would like to try a different DME. He didn't seem surprised and said that was just fine, I could pick up the prescription at the desk tomorrow. I have to be in town anyway so that will work out good for me.
Next I emailed my story to the one other DME in this area that is in my insurance network and got a response right away. The CPAP/showroom supervisor is willing to work with me, she is "happy to see a patient invested in this" and says I should not hesitate to ask questions. Is this a dream come true? I hope so! Once I get the script, I will set up an appointment with her and see how it goes. I am going to go with a positive attitude and hope that I can start making progress again.
Now I need to find out how to get the report on the data from the Elite. I think I just need to contact Health Records. Maybe I can pick up the appropriate form or forms tomorrow. Probably nobody in Health Records works on Saturday, though. Oh well, one hurdle at a time.

Grandma, to save yourself some aggravation I'm sure your doctor would be willing to make you a copy of the Elite data report since he must have had it when he discussed the results w/you. He sure sounds like a great sleep doctor. I'm glad you at least have him to fall back on! Good luck w/this new DME. Its really quite amazing how accomodating they can become when they know you've "dumped" one local DME for being less than helpful and accomodating.

Good for you Grandma! Yep...I would write a very professional to the point letter to the highest authoirty you can get to. I would include a copy of your emails to the RT and those returned from the RT. It may not do any good...but then it is one more strike that may be added to by others in the future.
I had a problem on more than one occasion with my GP's receptionist/front desk girl. I finally spoke to him about it. He told me that he didn't know if there was a probplem with her or not...he gets the office girls from a 'pool' at the hospital.....I gave him the details and said...now remember, I am BiPolar II and it may just be me...BUT if you would slyly listen to her and judge it from that....I hope it is not *just* me for my sake but hope it is *just* me for her sake. The next time I saw the Dr I noticed she was not there...I asked the Dr if she was out that day...and he said" it was not *just* you"....I had the hospital replace her.

Good for you, Mrs Rip! Some of these "desk dragons" can really be a PITA. How great that you opened his eyes and that he was conscientious enough to investigate whether others had the same problem and then replaced her when it was obvious she was not considerate of his patients. That speaks well of him too. I doubt it was an easy matter for him to get the hospital to replace her.

Hi gang.....I see that patient getting access to their data is still the hot topic. I was excited to see that Respronics put out Encore Pro for the patients. However, I am a ResMed Vpap Malibut customer. As far as I know, their ResScan software is still unavailable to patients. I still have my "pirated" copy and let me tell you that it has served me well. New users of equipment need to know that their choice is alot easier with Respronics than ResMed as far as access to software is concerned. I have just joined an AWAKE group and data access and software access has been my main issue at the meeting. I know that I got alot of new people on CPAP thinking and asking questions about this issue. We need to gang up on ResMed now!!

Ack, an innovative patient can EASILY obtain the ResScan software and necessary cable reader for their Resmed. All it takes is a question or two in an apnea forum. And Respironics' patient software is NOT EncorePro but rather EncoreViewer, the only difference being that the patient software doesn't allow for altering your therapy settings.
Resmed was AHEAD of Respironics in providing for EASY access to their data via the EASY TO READ LCD screen and to MORE of that data as well.
Good for you for bringing this issue to a head at your local AWAKE meeting and making fellow members AWARE of the data capabilities that CAN and SHOULD be made available to them!!!!
Personally, I absolutely have NO USE for a sleep "doctor" who would allow his patients to be provided w/anything LESS than a fully data capable xPAP (except for those patients w/o adequate insurance and w/limited financial means). And I would RUN, not walk, away from ANY sleep "doctor" who poo-poohs the data capabilities of today's xPAPs.
Keep up the good work, Alex!!!!! We need MORE patients such as you advocating for patient education and data access!

OK I have version 3.03 and I am looking for the latest version. This version has a bug in the graphs area. It shows the graphs twice and its annoying. Where can I obtain an update :)[/quote]

I assume you are talking about the Resmed 3.03 software. I can't speak for the new, just out, Vista compatible software but ResScan 3.4 also has the double graphs. Its not a bug. Its there for a reason. Remember, ResScan is intended for professionals not for patients.

Ok but to be clear, yes I have version 03.03.012 and the only place that looks like a software bug is in the REPORTS section. When you click on a single day and select DETAILED DATA it shows the following graphical data
PRESSURE
LEAK
AHI
EVENTS
It has to be some kind of software bug becuase the graphs repeat and are identical. I know that in the REVIEW area there are also DETAILED GRAPHS and you can click the icon on the right and change the number of graphs displayed and that is there so that the top graph can be in hours and the bottom graph can be in minutes so you can zoom in on a period but in the REPORTS area its definatly a software bug. Why would they repeat the above graphs for each day ? If you put in a week its even more annoying. Not the end of the world but just annoying.

Are you sure that they are identical? They should be one for each day of the period selected. Check the dates at the top of each "repeated" one.

Yea its a bug. Here is a copy of a report I ran for June 5 http://www.nycsaintmusic.com/Public/ResScan.pdf
You will note that the report starts at midnight on June 6, what happened to June 5 ? The graphs do duplicate and are identical unless I am missing something they look the same to me and the software even has a note in the installation directory which reads.
ResScan 3.3 Release Notes
=====================
This version of ResScan software contains some minor issues that are currently being resolved for the next release.
There are no known issues that affect safety or usage.
Crazy for a 3.x release and this note is silly. Why not just fix the bugs ?

 Not a bug . . .
From the ResScan Clinicians Manual.
Selecting traces
In the Graphing Options panel, use the Navigation tab to select all the traces you wish to display
in the top (navigation) window and the Detailed tab to select all the traces you wish to display
in the bottom (detailed) window.
Displaying high rate data
The split screen facilitates the display of high rate data, allowing the user to zoom in and out,
according to the time period selected. Two bright blue vertical lines in the navigation window
track the time period displayed in the detailed window, while the vertical red line in the detailed
window provides a point of reference.
Set the time period displayed
Use the Detailed tab View drop-down to set a time period between 10 seconds and 24 hours
for each half of the split screen. The split screen is designed to display a shorter time period in
the detailed window, zooming in on a segment of the total time period displayed in the
navigation window.
Navigation
Use the scroll bar at the bottom of each window to navigate horizontally through the data. The
data displayed in the detailed window can be more easily navigated using the navigation
window. To select or change the specific period of time you wish to display in the detailed
window, click in the navigation window at the point you wish to zoom in on.

Hi guys, I got my first CPAP machine five weeks ago and I also got the software to go with it from Resmed. I have had no trouble adjusting to the machine but recently went to download the data onto my computer and realised that I had a problem with the software. I have windows vista on my computer and I had been given version 3.3 which obviously doesn't work with vista. Anyway, I rang the Resmed helpline here in Australia and they were next to useless and told me to contact my supplier. They know a lot less about software than me and admitted it when they sold it to me. I finally got onto some techno guy at Resmed and he tried to talk me through fixing it without success and then "suggested" that I had the wrong version for my computer!! He was lovely though and asked why did I want the software etc and accepted that I wanted to be in control of my own health etc. He said he would download me a copy of the new vista software and send it to me and lo and behold the next day a package of brand new sealed software arrived which is version 3.5. He also sent me a Resmed keyring etc. Anyway, I am now fully functional and my data is there and looking very healthy. I am a very happy little camper now. Happy sleeping everyone, Lesley
