 Help with H3i
How on earth can I get into the H3i water resevoir to clean it out? Rinsing it isn't really effective as it has deposits in the corners. I have soaked it with white vinegar and done everything I can think of. What gets in there? MY fat fingers can't.... Help?
Also, I have to go out of town... will the machine lose any info If I unplug it? will I have to reset the internal clock etc? Will it lose my weekly stats? Thanks...

Put a couple tablespoons full of rice in it and shake well to clean.

READ THE USERS MANUAL. It says to use ONLY distilled water. You can't get a mineral buildup w/distilled water 'cause there are no minerals in it.

Give the uncooked rice a try as suggested above!
If you are using tap water in H3i, you should be rinsing your humidifier out with a white vinegar solution every week (perhaps more often if you are in a hard water area).

Your S8 has an internal battery, so you wont lose efficacy data, settings or clock timekeeping (etc).

Also, every h3i comes with a cleaning plug for easy shaking...or so I have read.
My DME never gave me mine and I didn't know it even existed until recently.

Interesting, Barry. I didn't know that either. Nor did I get one w/my Elite nor my Vantage. (I didn't get an H3i w/my new VPAP Auto since I already had the two).
W/both the Elite and the Vantage's H3i I did get a yellow cap that fits on the Elite or Vantage itself, not the H3i tank, when I'm using the Elite or Vantage w/o a humidifier. (Ha! Like THAT will ever happen given my experience w/a Respironics auto w/no humidifier and then w/a passover humidifier!)

 Cleaning the H3i

I put about 1/2 sheet of very sturdy paper towel that is folded into a small wad into the tank, swoosh it around using the handle of my toothbrush, and then rinse with the hottest tap water. To get the towel out, just turn over the tank and flop it until it comes to rest in the opening. Then it's easy to pull it out.
I keep forgetting to ask my husband to pick up a small soft bottle brush for this purpose.

I got my first H3i very shortly after the S8 line was initially released in Australia and it definitely didn't come with the yellow cleaning plug at that time
It wasn't until quite some time later (at least 18 months, maybe longer) that I found out about it and was given one by Air Liquide (where I'd bought the S8), so somewhere along the line these started to be shipped with new H3i units but they have not always shipped with them.
Cheers,
Bill
