Post Smart Card Reader/Software
I have a Respironics REMstar Pro 2 which records apneas, Hypnopneas, ect (not sure I spelled that right, but you get the point) on a Smart Card. I know people talk about a Full Data Capable Machine and how nice there are. My question is that if I buy the Software and the Reader is that pretty much the same as a Full Data Machine? In other words will I be able to "get" the same info and I won't need a Full Data Machine?

Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a reader and the software? I saw both for $199 somewhere online.

If your machine can record AHIs ( Hyponeas and Apneas ) that's great. That's a full-Data machine. All you now need is the USB Smart Card Reader, and the Viewer software, and you shoudl be able to analyze your night's Sleep.

Yeah,,the USB Reader and Software is around 199. It's a total rip off in my opinion. The USB Reader is so flimsy, it doesn't justify the price, and the Viewer Software is primitive to install. But once installed, it does it's job but again, it's a total rip off.

I also have had a Pro 2 for the last 3 years.  It's a fully data-capable machine and will tell you how your therapy is going.
Yeah, the card reader and software are a little pricey, but a helluva lot cheaper than repeated trips back to the doctor and having additional sleep studies.  It's like having a sleep study every night without all the "stuff" glued to you.  I disagree about the card reader being "flimsy".

I ordered mine through an Australian CPAP supplier and it ended up being about 40% less than US prices, express shipping included.

Not sure why its so much less there.  It arrived in about 7 days too!
