More than likely, you would have just woken up and removed your mask.

Not to discount the UPS, but the fear that one will die during a power outage is unfounded.  If you have a nasal mask and the air stops, your instinct will be to open your mouth.  Full face masks have anti-asphyxiation valves which allow you to breath room air if the air flow stops.

Still, if you are prone to power glitches/surges in your area I would opt for the better models that filter & regulate the power as well.  Power issues/surges are a sure machine killer.

Currently I don't have one... but I've got parts and pieces on the way to help me make one...   I tend to agree with BarryKaraoke that you'd likely just wake up and pull your mask off...

However for me, I want to sleep right though any power outages if possible...   I'm going down the road of having a 12 volt UPS with a 40AH (or bigger) 12 volt battery...  If all goes well I should have enough backup to power my CPAP for at least 16 hours. The charger portion should be able to fully recharge the battery in 12 hour or less. It will probably cost me about $200 total, maybe slightly more.
