Post Does medicare only reinburse for CPAP machine as Rental ?
Hi my name is Dan in Minnesota...My sleep study revealed I have moderate to severe apnea both obstructive and Central... I meet with the ENT on 1/4 to review the report!!!! Im assuming he will recomend a cpap machine!!!! I have both Medicare which is primary and Medica as secondary insurance!!! I have read a number of online sites which talk about medicare rental of machines,,,,,I have yet to find a site that discusses a full straightout purchase reinbursement by medicare!!! If you could enlighten me on their methods,,,It would help prepare me !!! Also,,,if it is only by rental agreement,,,please tell me your experience with that !!!!  Both pros and cons !!!!! Thanks so much !!!!! Dan

All CPAPmachaines purchased through Medicare must be started as a rental initially. Generally you are setup on a "rent to own" so to speak.  The first ten months are a rental after which you will receive a notice asking whether you would like to continue to rent permanently or if you would like to purchase. Should you choose to purchase you will be billed just a few more moths until you rental fees meet the purchase price after that the machine is yours.  If you choose to rent you will be billed just a few more moths and then billed every 6 moths for a service and maintenance fee. If you choose this option the machine belongs to the DME Company that rented the machine to you. I recommend the purchase option

Hope this helps
