I don’t think the humidifiers on these things are very effective and neither does my supplier. She says mine is one of the better ones and only gives about 30% added to the ambient humidity. See the post on this forum “Is your humidifier effective?” I have mine on Max and after about 2 weeks of CPAP treatment I have only had 1 night where the humidity felt right, that night I didn’t wake up once with dry mouth & feeling like I was suffocating. On that night it was raining and the humidity in the house was really high. All other nights the hose & mask have no vapors in them & I keep waking up with claustrophobia.

I am going out today & getting a room humidifier that I will locate right near the intake port of the CPAP. Hopefully that won’t cause a problem with the machine but I’m tired of waiting for the mask leak solution to work.

So have you tried a non-integrated humidifier?  I'm considering asking the DME to let me try one out...

I did talk to her about the problem and asked if she knew of anything that would work. She said that the built in humidifier was the best that was available. She did admit that this was not fully effective. I tried the room humidifier for the CPAP humidifier and found that with both on max I still did not get any 'rain-out' but this did reduce my congestion considerably.

I'm currently letting my humidifier preheat. I'm going to check the temp of the water before I turn on the air.  Would someone else with the Resmed humidifier do the same thing?  I'm thinking that the one I have is defective.  Maybe it's not getting as hot as it should be.  It's been pre-warming for at least a half hour and it's up to a whopping 103 degrees F.

Does this sound right?

Revision...  I let it go for another half hour preheating and it got up to 116 degrees. This is with no air blowing, just preheating. Seems pretty weak to me.
