 Purple Button Lights
I just got the Remstar M Pro. Anybody know how I can turn off the button lights? They light up my whole room!

So far as I know, there is no way to turn them off. There's been quite a bit of discussion about the "blue" lights on the Respironics M Series - put some tape over them, or a dirty sock, or a hanky. Heck, buy a sleep mask for them!

I just put a piece of black electical tape over mine. A pin prick will let some light out if you care to know that the light is on.

Oh yeah, and I guess they are blue not purple. Either way, I hate them.

About as intelligent as the nortoriously poorly designed M Series integrated humidifier.

Hmm, humidifier seems just fine to me. But damn those blue lights. Am I beating a dead horse here?

Yeah, the blue light was bashed to death when the M's first came out.
Nothing can be done to get Respironics to do anything about it. That light is one of about three or four reasons I have an IntelliPAP as a primary CPAP instead of an M series. I have an autoM that I use on occasion -- and it has black tape over the LED.

The M Series is the reason I have and am ever so grateful for my Resmeds!!!!! No blue lights, no extra power brick, no extra cords, no losing a couple of nights' data a month, no PITA integrated humidifier, 1/2 lbs less when traveling, hmmm, what else?

When I went to discuss the results of my sleep study with my sleep doctor, there was this article pinned to the wall of the exam room. I was reading it while waiting for the doctor to come in. It was telling about all of the things that you should do to help get a good night's sleep. One of the things it said was to make sure your room is as dark as possible because light is a signal to your body to wake up. It said that even tiny LEDs from electronic equipment can give off enough light to affect your sleep.
HOW IRONIC, that a device specifically designed to IMPROVE SLEEP would light up my WHOLE ROOM!!

Just got my M series and while the light dosen't bother me I was wondering if they stayed on all the time. Really there's only three buttons. Even I could figure out which one is which in the dark, and I've owned it less than 24 hours. I didn't notice it last night sleeping, but I'll cover them just in case it. I think we should give this a Microsoft Spin and call it the "Blue Light of Death". Sorry, I'm an IT guy, couldn't help it.

pbpunisher, that !@#! blue light is on all of the time. I only need to use one of the buttons -- the on/off button. I think that if one uses the auto on and auto off that there is no need to use any of the buttons.
At least the Respironics blue light doesn't mean that that the machine is broken.

I have my Remstar Auto M in a drawer, so the lights don't bother me anymore, but yes yes yes it is a really stupid design!
I wrote Repsironics an email and suggested, put the backlight on the display screen not the buttons! The screen under a flip cover, so backlight the screen only when the cover is opened. (Even in a lit room it is hard to read their display, so a backlight would be helpful fulltime.) And put braille dots on the buttons, I can feel the dots and tell which one to push at night without having to look at them at all.
I got a nice reply thank you for your email, we have forwarded your suggestions to our engineers.
So for those of you here that are engineers, will they take me seriously or blow me off?
Blessings,

They first starting receiving suggestions regarding back lighting the screen and the removal, reduction, and/or changing the color of the LED shortly after the M series was introduced; which was well over a year ago. I am sure that they have also had several people suggesting the addition of tactile buttons -- and they haven't listened to those suggestions/complaints yet. Maybe in the next series of equipment...
