Post cleaning resmed Quattro
I'm trying out a Resmed Quarttro full face mask.
I've been using a Swift Mirage Nasal Pillow system since December of 1996. I like it very well , EXCEPT, when I toss around at night it slips and causes leaks. I think I also breathe a little through my mouth.
I tried a FP 431 ff mask and it wasn't comfortable.
The Quattro is more comfortable, but it takes me so long to get asleep at night,
that I'm aware of the little discomfort, and switch back to the nasal pillows a few hours later.
Anyway, I've viewed the video instructions on assembling, cleaning etc. and it seems very labor intensive and detailed. Does it have to be completely taken apart and cleaned every night, or could the inner mask and cushion be done every night, and the rest weekly?
I'm so clumsy and have no fine motor coordination, and doing the whole thing every night will make me crazy. Maybe I could clean the forehead part with a damp cloth.
Assembly of the nasal pillow is a no brainer, but not the Quattro!

Any ideas? The people here have such good ideas with shortcuts, etc.
When I talked to the woman at the medical store, she had no idea of all of the things people have to do to get their masks and headgear to fit properly and comfortably.

I was told by my tech I didn't have to take my Quattro apart, just soak it for 20 minutes or so ,( I use baby shampoo ). But I find you do have to take it apart every few days or so , or you will get the nasty "farting" sounds.  I just take the mask part itself apart, the gel part and the blue ring, I've never bothered taking the rest apart and cleaning it. It's a pain putting it back together, I have to try to remember to do it when I'm not too sleepy. Virginia

I just swish my whole Quattro around in warm water with a little mild dish soap each morning. Once a week I take it apart and wash the little pieces in the same.  I don't take the dial thing off the head piece at all, though.  I find it most hard to take off and put on that seal and blue clip because of the arthritis in my hands so once a week is going to have to be enough.  When I was telling my insurance rep. that I think I need a new mask after almost six months because the silicone seal seems to be too floppy and the DME says I can't have one until June (why they care, I have no idea) she laughed out loud and said I am probably the only person in the world who actually cleans their mask every day.  She suggested that might be the reason why my mask is wearing out.
