I found that treating sleep apnea also treats ulcerative colitis. Others have found that treating sleep apnea  treats reflux and irritable bowel syndrome. By combining these I have concluded that obstructive sleep apnea underlies regressive autism.

First the citations of my "Letters to editors of medical  journals"

Herr JR. Re: Autism--ear infections--glue ear--sleep disorders. J Autism Dev Disord. 2003 Oct;33(5):557.

Herr JR. Medical literature implies continuous positive airway pressure might be appropriate treatment for irritable bowel syndrome. Chest. 2002 Sep;122(3):1107.

The following URL is to a discussion of "More regressive autism". It is over two years old and is still valid.

I think that the above information will be very useful in publicizing the dangers of obstructive sleep apnea.

Wellllllll, they are all by the same author. And there is one h*ll of a BIG difference between IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and colitis (chronic inflammation in the colon). Chronic inflammation leads to ulcerations. Ulcerative colitis is one of the IBDs (inflammatory bowel disease).
