I hope that Philips doesn't intend to make any changes that affect the ability of Respironics to stay in the top tier of CPAP equipment manufactures.

That is always a worry with take overs of MNCs. I quit my company when Flakt took the company over and a few years later Flakt was taken over by ABB and two years later it was all wiped out by ABB as it did not make money for them. The industry suffered in the process for want of better manufacturers. There will be job cuts and cuts in expenditure as always. It is pretty difficult to run a business with passion when you become a subsidiary and have some one looking over your shoulders

Let us see only time will tell

The word from one of the big distributors in Europe (Respironics), is that Philips intend a big investment in Repironics. They see a very big future in sleep medicine and want to be part of it.

Only time will tell though.

Daniel.

philips could invest money in teaching doctors how to diagnose sleep apnea, also some more effort in product development may have prevented their masks breaking where the attachment points werent strong enough to take the strain of the headgear

Those problem were Respironics' fault, now we will find out if Philips fixes this or cuts back and makes things even worse.
