I am able to breathe through my nose so I am not sure why my mouth would be open leading to the dry mouth. Perhaps there is another explanation. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

 Dry mouth when using CPAP
I have a RemStarPro CFLEX machine with nasal mask, and find myself constantly waking up during the night with a dry throat and mouth. It is most uncomfortable
I am able to breathe through my nose so I am not sure why my mouth would be open leading to the dry mouth. Perhaps there is another explanation. Any suggestions would be most helpful. |

It is called mouth breathing and it makes CPAP therapy ineffective because the air escapes. Probably the best way to deal with it is to use a full face mask. Some people will use a chin strap and then tape or glue their mouth shut.

mouth breathing is very common for new CPAP users, the body is always looking for the easy way out, try taping the lips

Thanks. I am going to get a chin strap. I was told that I do this because I a new CPAP user. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Are you using a humidifier on your machine??

Yes, I am using a humidifier. When I turn it up though I get rain out. I am getting a snuggle hose to deal with that. I did turn it up last night and it helped keep my throat moist.

Yes...my snuggle hose cover makes all the difference when it comes to rainout
