Post One year anniversary, almost
This is not a pity party nor am I’m trying to cast gloom on the holiday season with this post.
I started on my OSA therapy on Jan 3, 2005, so it has been almost 1 year now. I cannot say that I have had the big increase in energy that some of you have had, and wish that I had. I have had good nights and days and not so good nights and days. But, I had those before I started used my CPAP. As we know, it isn’t any “fun” being tethered to a CPAP, but I will survive and continue to prosper in spite of this. Neither the CPAP nor the hose really bother me. It’s that hard plastic thing that I must strap to my face where the hose terminates that bothers me at times. But, I can do nothing about it other than not use it.
I don’t want to think about the consequences that that could bring.

Part of this could be from wondering about my mother-in-law and father-in-law. They are both elderly and not in the best of health.

Enough of this lamenting, in closing I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years that you have ever seen. I know that 2006 will be better for each one of us.

Harold

Harold -

I, too, am coming up on my 1 year anniversary.  I do feel 1000% better than I did a year ago.  You mention that the mask is what really annoys you.  Have you tried a different mask or perhaps nasal pillows?  I use the Breeze with nasal pillows and have absolutely no problem with it regardless of whether I sleep on my side, stomach or back.  Imho, the nasal pillows seem to have less contact with your face and don't seem quite so claustrophobic.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas and the best of luck with your continued treatment.

Harold, thank you for your kind holiday wishes.

I agree...the mask can be the biggest stumbling block of all in this kind of treatment.  Which masks have you tried so far, and which mask are you using now?   The Breeze that Merlin mentioned is one of my favorites.  The "Headrest" (formerly called the "Aura") by Aeoimed is my #1 favorite.  Interestingly, one of the designers of the Breeze later designed the Aura.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas, too -- and a wonderful New Year with plenty of good sleep.   Very Happy

Merlin and Rested Gal,

Thanks for the replies.
RG, I have and use one mask which is a ResMed Ultra Mirage FF.  I can't use a nasal mask or pillows due to nasal congestion.

Again, thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

In my perusing of masks, etc. I see that there is one for mouth breathers.  It just gives up on the breathing through the nose entirely and pushes the air through the mouth.  Has anyone tried that?  Could work instead of the FF for congestion and it is very small looking.  Thankfully I don't have that problem, but it seemed like a decent idea.
