according to the article you presented, yes, there is a conexion between both diseases; i used to have a benign enlargement of the thyroid gland which was treated surgically and after that with thyroid hormones, that was years ago; now i am euthyroid, normal levels of thyroid hormones but, i check them every year, to see if i do not require hormones again; one of the main reasons that give a clue about enlargement of the thyroid is precisely the change in the sizes of the collar neck in the shirts, when this happens, it is better to look for medical assistance; my advice is that you should consult with an endocrinologist to be sure that there is nothing wrong with your thyroid.

that sounds good, what kind of studies did they perform, any mri or ultrasound of the neck, besides testing your lab tests? i believe that when the meds starts working they will reduce the side of your thyroid, therefore leaving a more open space for the trachea, if something is pressing the trachea of course there would be a narrowing of it and reduce the airways; but, also there is a possibility that due to the size of the matter it might also push the trachea backwards or to the sides; it is important to always check the circunference of your neck, if you notice any change later on, it is a good indicator that you should be seen by an endocrynologist.

sleep study dr wants to do an ultra sound ,,my reg dr says he doesnt need an ultra sound and seemed a bit put out when i mentioned it, i realy like my primary care dr but these 2 seem to be in some sort of a pissing match as the sleep study dr's office didnt send my reg dr any of the results from what the sleep dr recomended ..i really dont get it but seems my sleep study dr wants to buck everyone not just my primary care dr and tell people what test they need and not follow up on any of it,,,i have called his office every week for the past 2 months to ask whats up with the test they want done and when can we get them schelduled,,he even decided to take me off the 2 liters of oxygen i was on per min ,,and i was off it for the better part of 2 months untill i started falling back in to my old habit of napping after work and falling asleep before 9;00 pm ,,i called his office and he had done an ofernight sleep oxygen symerty test (i think thats what its called) and was told my lowest reading was 67 ,,no wonder i felt like poo,,,all this is getting old i feel like i have to fight everyone to move an inch and my minds not clear ,,some times i fell like just giving up the fight

first, let me tell you that an ultrasound is a good idea in order to see if there is an abnormal growth of the thyroid and if there are some other close anatomycal structures that are being pushing away from their normal location; sure, i will order an ultrasound, besides this, doctor will be able to see what part of the thyroid gland is affected, superior or inferior lobes of the thyroid, etc; do you have to go through your primary doctor first, in order to have these studies done and also, do you need a referral in order to see an endocrinologist? in case that you need a referral i would insist or demand from my primary physician to send me to a endocrinologist, which is the most capable person to treat your disease; you have to fight for your rights to get the BEST MEDICAL CARE, even if your doctor is not such a caring one; some doctors want to manage everything and they do not really CARE or TREAT other underlying diseases that we have; it has happened to me in a lot of cases; with myself, my kids, my spouse, my mother, i have to fight and fight until i get solutions or the right medical diagnosis and treatment; i have seen this kind of negligence a lot from primary physicians, they seems just to be in agreement with the medical insurance to lower the cost of medical expenses as much as they can, they care more about it than to give the right treatment to their patients; if my primary doctor is a person like that, i will just switch to another doctor, but asking people to recommend you a better one first. Now you were talking about falling asleep and the results of your oximetry, well, it seems that you were having low saturation of oxygen for the past two months, due to the negligence of the doctor; Look THIS IS YOUR BODY and you better demand better care; remember, when your oxygen levels drop, the brain cells are also dying besides other sides effects, and you are also falling asleep everywhere, which can put your life in danger; that could be even a reason for legal sue. Finally, my advice would be: get an endocrinologist, never wait for the doctor, the secretary, the fighting between two doctors, etc in order to get things done, be insistent until you get things done; and if your primary doctor is not giving the best care you need, you better change him for a better one; DEMAND DO NOT WAIT.
