Whoa - last night was tough.  What does one do with a full face mask, mucho congestion and sneezing fits in the middle of the night? Confused

Sorry, Linnea.  I don't have an answer to this one, but I want to know the answer because I use a FFM and have only had it 2 weeks (not long enough to get a cold with it).  I'm looking forward to getting answers about this.

Post No Solution that I Know of
I've been using my CPAP for over 3 years now and whenever I have a head cold, I just have to not use it.  As I'm sure you've experienced, it's impossible to breathe through your nose when it's stuffed.

I am here at 4:17 am (been up for over an hour) because of sneezing fit.  I have nasal pillows though.  When I have a cold with stuffy nose, I HAVE to use nasal spray.  I use the OTC ones that are bad until I can get to doctor for some recommended stuff (flonase)  if I don't already have some on hand.  I absolutely CANNOT sleep without my c-pap.  If my electricity goes off, I have to get up.  I can't take a nap, unless I have my c-pap.  So my nasal passages HAVE to be open.

Anyway, just can sympathize with ya'.

My nasal passages are always blocked, and I use an OTC spray to keep them open at night to use the machine. I am seeing a doctor and working on the situation. I may need surgery to reduce the size of the turbinates in my nasal passages because they are really swollen most of the time. (this was prior to using the spray) That was the reason I went to see him in the first place, and ended up having a sleep study done! go figure, but I'm glad i did. It's no fun breathing thru your mouth all night, so I too can sympathize with you....

Try sinus irrigation also.  It works and feels great if you have allergies or a cold.

I have sinus and allergies as well.  I have found a friend in the Breathe Right nasal strips.  They make some with the menthol called Breathe Right Vapor Strips.  They seem to help me.

I was told that if I got a cold, I probably wouldn't want to sleep with the machine. Right now, I have a nasal mask (ResMed) but after 5 days I can't tolerate it. I'm seriously considering their pillow system.
