I woke several times during the test (I remember at least 3 or 4) yet the report lists no "awakenings" (though it does list 1 "REM awakening"). Is that because they were not the result of a respiratory event? I know one time I awoke because I was just too warm. My chart (if I'm reading it correctly) shows 13 awakenings.
Now the biggest question I have is: It appears that the RDI simply only includes apneas and hypopneas which only added up to 19. Yet I had 197 arousals! How do I know how many of the arousals were caused by other respiratory events that were not apneas or hypopneas (RERAs)? Is it assumed that ALL of them were? I thought the definition of RDI was AHI + RERA? Many of the arousals (most maybe) did not seem to cause a change from one sleep stage to another.
The diagnosis was UARS or REM-dependant OSA. It does appear I only have apnea/hypopnea trouble only during REM, especially in supine but the arousals occurred pretty steadily all night long regardless of sleep stage or position so that would point to UARS.
