Post Extreme Anxiety
Today was the first day after using CPAP. Was not near as tired but felt extremely agitated and severe anxiety like I  could not breath on my own all day. I would have to close my eyes and settle myself down to not totally freak out. I have never had anxiety in my life until 6-8 months ago after coming off of Lexapro. I thought it was the Lexapro that was making me freak out. Does not make any sense that finally after I get my best night of sleep in probably years that I have higher anxiety this day. Anyone closely similar results?
Thank you guys for your info, David

Hi-

The whole deal of trying to use C-pap causes anxiety for me.  Keep at it - and hopefully it will work out for you.  Good Luck - John

David -

I had the same problem.... it went away after two nights on the CPAP.  I think it had something to do with how deeply I was breathing on the CPAP and then during the day I'd notice I wasn't breathing that deeply.     During the day, just keep telling yourself you are breathing fine....   Place your hand on your stomach and concentrate on breathing through your nose and moving your hand up and down slowly with each inhale and exhale.

I'm on my sixth night with the CPAP and I'm not having any more anxiety or breathing problems during the day.

Good Luck!!!

Hi David,

Your weird breathing feeling just sounds like a good old, garden variety anxiety attack.  This may sound strange, but you are not use to feeling rested and that new feeling alone may be causing some anxiety.  Don't focus on your physical being during the day right now (daytime breathing, etc.) but instead, just go on with your life and concentrate on what you have to get done during the day.

Vicki
