Chicken or the egg?
Please pardon an off-topic remark (consider this digression a momentary respite from the serious topic at hand) but the use of the "chicken or the egg" example to express a quandry or question without an obviously correct answer, is a poor choice, because the egg came first without question. Here's the proof:
Premise #1: The chicken evolved from something that was not a chicken
Premise #2: Therefore, there was a "first" chicken
Premise #3: That "first" chicken hatched from an egg
Ergo: The egg clearly came first.
The real mystery is how a question with such a clearcut answer, has become such a popular metaphor for a question or problem to which the answer or solution cannot be divined.
