Post Water Chamber Leaking
I am newly diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have a REMSTAR PLUS with humidifier. My water chamber seems to have a slow leak. I have checked to make sure the water isn't coming from the bottom, but in morning when I get up there is some water on my night stand. Not a lot but it is there. Has anyone out there encoutered this problem? Also some nights I wake up coughing which is sort of difficlut with that nasal mask. By the way, I have been reading the postings and responses on this site for a week now before deciding to register, and I would like to say you guys are great and I have found some helpful answers and great advice.

cbrannon86...Hi Charlie....First..welcome to you... I noticed that when I first go to bed and put the mask on I always get a tickle in my throat which always makes me cough. I am usually alright after a few minutes...And yes, it is hard to cough when you are wearing one of those masks.  Smile

I was also recently diagnosed and given a ResMed S8 Escape with Humidaire 3i humidifier.  I had the same problem with the water chamber.  It started as a slow leak...then one night I heard a loud BANG and my oak night stand top had split from all the water!

My DME replaced the water chamber.  She said she has never had this happen before.  The new water chamber doesn't leak at all....no problems.

I'd recommend taking it back right away for a replacement.

Another thought.... If the water chamber is leaking....the humidifier may not be working well enough to keep you hydrated.  Perhaps the cough is a result of that.....

Good luck!

I use a remstar non heated humidifier and I also experienced a leak.  However, the problem was my not going around the entire bottom to insure that the was sealed after I had cleaned it.    It feels like it is sealed, but unless you press it down all of the way around you cannot be sure.  I have had no further leaks after I started doing this.

Hi
My water chamber had a leak as well.  it turns out that there was supposed to be a connector that went from the chamber to the hose.  As you look at the set up, there is a clearish rubber gasket that the chamber connects to on one side and then another one that you have to put on to connect the hose on to the chamber. My humidifier was missing this vital piece.  ( Silly me just jammed the hose on without it) After this little set back I had more leaks and it turns out that I had not replaced the plate at the bottom fully.  You really have to press down on it - I set mine on the counter top and really lean on it.  There should be NO space at all between the plactis ridge on the chamber and the plate.
And I personally think the genius who put a ginormous hole at the bottom of something designed to hold water was ... well... not all there.  It seems to me the people who come up with these things are not people who will EVER use them. d'oh!
