Post Where do I go from here?
Hi
I am brand new here and newly diagnosed with sleep apnea.-three days ago. I never would have dreamed I had that. My neurologist was smart enough that when he I told him about the fatigue I have almost all the time, no matter how I sleep. He asked me if I snored and I told him my husband says I do. He said frimly SLEEP LAB.  The sleep lab was an interesting experience the accomodations were like a swanky hotel and the people were very nice. I have a mild case of sleep apnea and I am waiting to see what my doctor wants me to do. If I need a cpap I will have to go to the lab and have another test with the mask on. So I am in the waiting game and am so glad I found this forum. This stuff is all new to me.  Thanks for any help you can give me.  Kay Shocked  Shocked

Hi Kay,

When you meet with your doctor, I suggest you ask for a copy of the sleep study report.  And the lab will likely produce another report after the second study where they test you fitted with the mask.  Get a copy of that report as well.

Try and ask a lot of questions.  And after they test you with the mask, make sure you know what your options are in getting your equipment.
You will likely have many more questions after talking to your doctor.  So feel free to continue posting questions and comments here.
I was diagnosed last November, but I'm still learning all about this.

This is a most peculiar condition and treatment.  And there may be times when it's frustrating.  We would all prefer not to have this condition, but we are happy to know there is a medical reason for our exhaustion and there's something that can be done about it.

Let us know how things go.

Hi Linda,
My neurologist just called me and told me I only have slight sleep apnea.  Not enough to do anything about.  But I do have restless leg syndrome, as he said my legs jerked around a lot when I was asleep.  So he is going to prescribe some medicine for me.  Hopefully that will help the jerking legs at night and daytime and I can sleep better and I wont be so tired all the time.  God bless, Kay
