Staying Asleep - thoughts?

Post Staying Asleep - thoughts?
I figured I'd put this here, because it's not really an apnea question.

I have one sleep habit that I'd like to break and don't know how. It was there before CPAP and it's there now one year after starting CPAP. I go to sleep fine, but I almost always wake up around 4 or 5am. When I do, my mind starts racing with ideas about the day, work projects, how to do this or that. I'm awake, but not really awake enough to get up and start the day. I end up running through tons of things in my mind, then going back to sleep until I'm ready to wake up for real (usually around 6:30 or 7am).

Anybody else have this and figured out a way to not wake up?

Since I got my new machine I an NOT sleeping all night.  I wake up with a distended belly full of air that must be "passed"  I spoke with the techs at the sleep center and basically they blew me off.  I emailed a question to sleep study center "locally" and they suggested I convince the Doc that my pressure needs to be lowered somewhat.  Currently I ramp in from 10 to 15.  My new machine is noisier and the buttons are lit up all night making the room lighter.  I've started covering them up.  I"m on my 3rd maks in weeks.  I like the mask, but I'm not styaing asleep.

Last night in frustration at 2 am I took 2 lunestas, (my normal dose is 1) I slept for 4 hours.

I need to see the doc right? Brick wall

Well...Could be apnea...or could be that this time of day...with your thoughts, ideas and creative mind that you are the most in touch with your inner source...OK, I may sound wierd...but that is the way I think sometimes.  I keep pad of paper and pencil by the bed...I try to write down everything for the next day on that...to clear my mind prior to going to sleep.  As for me, I also will write things down when I wake in the night with an idea or solution that I do not want to lose.

Mrs. Rip, you are so right, it is a very creative time, and I've done as you do - the pad and paper sometimes. My favorite is phone call to people's work phones with message :).

But while all that creative juice is great I would love to sleep through the night just once ;).
