Post Request for advice please
Hi all,

Im based in the UK, and found ths Forum after a web-search on the condition. There is nothing similar i can find UK based,
although I don;t suppose the condition cares what country it's in!

Anyway, after hearing a Radio program, something twigged in my mind, that I may be a sufferer, Id appreciate any comments please!!!!

Symptoms etc:
Tiredness frequently, with all assocated side effects - no concentration, lack of strength, etc etc
(This can vary in intensity from day to day).
Occassional talking in sleep
Severe snoring - my partner has to sleep in another room - (not every night)
I stop breathing for significant times while sleeping - this was alarming to my partner initially but she has become used to it - again not every night.

I also sometimes wake up "frozen" - unable to move or breath - quite alarming.
Overall, Id say that the more tired I am, the worse it can be overall - but, if I get a "good" sleep I feel on top of the world - which is probably "normal".
Is this something I should concern my doctor with?

Hi,

You have some of the classic symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea with a little bit of Sleep Paralysis thrown in.

Suggest you talk with your doctor as soon as possible and schedule a complete sleep study. Be sure to mention all of your symptoms.

Regards,

PG

You should see your doctor about this.

There is an excellent support group in the UK. The Sleep Apnoea Trust Association, are voluntary, non profit making. they have a web site at www.sleep-apnoea-trust.org and have a number of helplines for support.

The medical administrative set up in the UK relative to this disorder is completely different to the US, and most other countries so SATA might be better placed to advise you on specialists etc.

For general info, you probably won't beat here.

Daniel
