Post My 1st full sleep study
Hi there - I am so happy I found this forum!!  I am praying this sleep apena mask and therapy will help answer a lot of questions about my excessive sleepiness, constant fatigue and so much more.  My first sleep study was cut short when I developed a migraine and had to leave. The second one was a bit more successful, although they couldn't split the sleep because it was too late when they got enough information.  I don't have the details like many of you have, but this is the general information.
* Mild to moderate snoring
* Alpha intrusion was notable
* Awakening index of 6 and an arousal index of 40. On average my sleep is interrupted 46 times an hour.
* Highly abnormal sleep architecture.
* Stage 1 sleep dramatically increased at 31% instead of more typical 5%.
* Markedly reduced sleep efficiency as well at only 53% instead of typical 90 - 95%.
* Mild prolongation of sleep latency at 24 minutes.
* Left decubitus RDI of 63 and Right of 32.6 for all night RDI of 36.3.

That's about it. I understand the basics, but sleep architecture? sleep latency?

Thanks -
SB

Thanks for the link.  I'm still not quite too sure on the sleep architecture thing - the report made a note that it was unusual that I didn't dream - is that what he's talking about?

I go for my titration study Friday night!

This is a quote from a sleep center website:

Quote:
Sleep Stages:
-normal sleep progresses through cycles of sleep stages.  The sleep stages of normal sleep are
of a certain order, duration, and proportion, called normal sleep architecture.  Sleep architecture undergoes normal changes at certain ages and is disrupted when sleep disorders are present.

So I'd say the he was talking about this: "Stage 1 sleep dramatically increased at 31% instead of more typical 5%. "

But I'm no expert. Maybe it's the whole overall picture, with the poor sleep efficiency and all.
