Post UPPP Complications
Had UPPP surgery five months ago.  Big mistake. Do not have this surgery. It helped the snoring but put me out of commission for almost a month between the pain and the meds.  Biggest problem of all is  I still have scar tissue in the back of my throat and when I swallow I am very aware of it.  Does anyone have any advise as to what to do about this?  Thanks

Go back to the surgeon, who did the cutting. He should be able to explain things. It may be scar tissue, it may be untidyness or other.

Your surgeon really should have followed this up.........did you have any post op consultations ?

Daniel.

You also really should have some sort of post surgical sleep study, even if it is a take home autoPAP.

I had mine done over a year ago and mine was a partial success. The recovery was about 2 weeks, I snored less initially and went for 2 sleep studies after, one with nothing, the other with a CPAP. Aside for the tendency for some food to go up my nose, I have no adverse effects.

As you had to have a CPAP titration, it would appear that your UPPP was less than successful, especially when it causes food to go up your nose.

Hi  I had the UPPP surgery done back in 2005.

I would go back and see what they can do about feeling the scar tissue. Maybe a tidy up is needed??
