brother's symtoms

Post brother's symtoms 
my little brother snores when he sleeps on his back and when he sleeps on his side he lies there without breathing and then starts breathing again after a few seconds. He's 13, athletic and tall for his age. I think he may have sleep apnea but i'm not sure because he's still quite young. Is this in any way fatal and are there any remedies to help him out? Confused
