Post Hard to Breathe
I was diagnosed in August and have been on CPAP since 1st week in September.  Had very little trouble getting used to it and I sleep great now.  However, in the last two weeks I've been getting VERY out of breath when I walk up stairs or inclines.   I'm 47 y/o female, 50 pounds overweight, and in good health otherwise.  I've never had problems breathing until now.  Could the CPAP cause this?

Hi,

It's unlikely that cpap is causing this.

Did your sleep doctor mention any other problems after your sleep study ? Cardiac maybe ?

No other problems mentioned during sleep study.  And, despite the weight, I've never had problems breathing.

Guest,

I don't know how much you've discussed this with your doctor, either a primary care physican or a specialist.
But if you haven't, then you better do so.

Perhaps some other test is in order, like a pulmonary function test or something.
You need to get some answers, or at least rule things out.
