Post What is Titration?
I just had my sleep study. Could anyone tell me what is a titration study, and will I need one?

Thanks,

Chris

A Titration Study is to see what pressure of CPAP is best to treat apnea/hypoapnea episodes. They do this by having you sleep with CPAP and they try different pressures during the night to see the effect. I just had mine done Nov. 4.

Your doctor will determine if you need one based on the findings from your Sleep Study. If you had any apnea/hypoapnea, arousals, leg jerks, etc., you may need a Titration to see if CPAP would help.

Hi Chris,

A titration study is similar to a sleep study, but you wear a mask connected to a BiPAP or similar machine. In short it determines the correct air pressure to clear your apnoea events. If you have been diagnosed with OSA you will need one.

Just to confuse you further  Laughing
Some sleep specialists carry out a split night study, where after 3 hours or so, if you appear to have OSA, they will wake you and start the titration study.

Even others forego the titration study and send you home with an auto titrating PAP machine for a few nights and this, in theory, gives a similar result.

Any more questions, don't hesitate to post.

Daniel.

Post I think I had it.
I was woke up durring my sleep study, and placed on a cpap, and then slept the rest of the night with it. (Best 3.5 hours of sleep i have had in a long time). So i guess i might not need another one.

Thanks for the info. This forum is such a help to those of us that are just finding out about this desease.
