Post Calibrate my mask to the CPAP
I have a  S8 AutoSet Spirit™ and have used it since mid february with good result.
Now I want to calibrate my mask to the CPAP.

I have a  Respironics Comfort Classic http://comfortclassic.respironics.eu/

What is the basic setting I should use on my CPAP when I do the calibation?  What is an acceptable leakage? Last night I had 0,1 in some scale I have forgotten.

perhaps Ive missed something but I think all masks can be used without any alteration but have a close look at the CPAP instructions

the S8 has several different ways it can be operated

It makes no difference to your therapy with a CPAP, what mask setting you choose.   It is intended to influence the leak rate shown on the display and a few other displays due to the characteristics of some ResMed masks.  (Personally I think it is also a marketing ploy to influence you into believing that only a ResMed mask will work with the machine, which is simply not so.)

ResMed tries to take the guesswork out of determining whether you are experiencing excessive leak, by subtracting the normal and expected exhaust amount (the stream of air coming from the mask) for the mask type you have selected.  The idea is to show you what is over and above 'normal' rate.  Even choosing 'standard' mask setting still results is some amount being subtracted from the displayed amount.  As your mask is not listed, choosing 'Standard' will be fine.

Again, this setting does not influence your therapy pressures or therapy effectiveness.

And again I am referring to CPAP.  Specialized machines such as the VPAP Adapt SV do not work with all masks, the masks must meet certain requirements and pass the learning circuit in the machine before they should be used.

Okay. Math is NOT my forte. As stated above when using a non-Resmed mask one should use the Standard mask selection option.

The Standard mask selection option results in 24 L/M (0.4 L/s) being deducted from the reported Leak rate which is the 95th percentile at or below which you spent the night.

Each mask's accompanying literature has a chart showing the "allowed exhaust or vent rate) at various pressure settings. Select your pressure setting for that mask's allowed exhaust or vent rate. That allowed rate is the compared to the reported Leak rate PLUS the 24 L/M (0.4 L/s) rate to determine what your real Leak rate is.
