 CPAP repair
My Resmed s8 auto Vantage started making a funny noise last Monday night and by Tuesday night when I wanted to go to sleep the screen said "System Error"."call service" I called DME and their answering service said they would call back within 30 minutes. No call back, slept without CPAP. Called the Sleep Lab that issued the prescription and asked them to contact the DME and push them to take care of it. The sleep lab are always very helpful and promised they would send out a work order and the DME would call soon. Still waiting!! No CPAP since Monday and its Friday.... Thank goodness I don't really notice the difference except for sweating around my neck.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep calling - every day. It may be that they are ordering in a new replacment for you but that doesn't excuse their not keeping you informed. And frankly, they SHOULD provide you w/a loaner xPAP. Get on the phone and make the call. Even on the weekend. Good luck and God bless!

They denied on thursday that they had received the request, and as a big favor they will meet at my office on Monday (have to wait much longer for them to come to my home). I bet they will say they have to take it back to their place to repair it and probably wait another week or two.... Or they will offer me some ancient loaner machine.

If this were your plumber, your basement was flooded and they didnt' return your calls for three days....would you still keep em? Or find another plumber?
I know what I would do.

The Promptcare lazy good-for-nothings did not bother telling me that their respiratory therapist had an emergency and only when I called them did they tell me he would not be showing up. Now they have another appointment for tomorrow, and again I have to bring it to work with me cos they cannot be bothered to come to my home. Nor can they accommodate me coming to them.
But there is good news! Since I never felt much better from CPAP I don't feel worse without it.

Wow! I'd be pissed if I were you.
We were out camping a few weekends ago and my machine was totally dead, wouldn't turn on or anything. Being it was like 11pm friday night when this happened I just slept in a chair for about 4 hours. I called the place where I got my machine on Saturday morning and the RT met me at my house and checked it out. When she couldn't get it working we went down to the office and got a new one.
They called me back today and couldn't fix it, so I had to take the loaner back and I got a new one under warranty from Resmed.

Unfortunately, we are not all blessed w/a good local DME supplier such as you have MomOf2Penguins. Congratulations on being blessed w/a good one!

Yesterday the service call arrived, and the machine worked perfectly at first try. I used it last night, but when I tried to retrieve the usage data, it showed "No data" So who knows? DME response "try it again tonight and call us in the morning."

As far as I understand it with my Resperonics BiLevel Auto M...the data does not show immediately upon waking. You must wait a few hours to view it..then at a certain point the information transfers to a weekly/monthly average.

Mine used to show data immediately, until it broke. Now it shows nothing at all. Not even usage data. Nothing! For all I know it s functioning as a CPAP instead of an autoPap. For all I know it is running all night at its settling level of 5, instead of titrated level of 7 or real level (auto) of between 7 and 9.5... the sweet folks at Promptacre say they have no clue but have passed on the question to REsmed. they seem in no hurry

While you do have to go thru your dealer (local DME supplier), Arthur, you can probably light a fire under ..... yeah, well, you get the drift, by calling Resmed directly. I've always gotten an excellent response from Resmed and they lit a fire under the sheister DME supplier I had's .... er, fanny, when I had a problem. Resmed put me thru to one of their engineers. He asked questions, I explained the problem, they contacted the DME - and I got a new device. (Mine was still under warranty, but still, Resmed has been great and responsive whenever I've contacted them).

I called the DME again and again, and e-mailed Resmed directly, and called Resmed. Eventually they will respond... my emotions suddenly took a nose dive, but I think for other reasons. Still, it is a reminder how unpleasant the beasts who run and work for DME's make it for us CPAP/APAP users. And the wierd way in which they say you must use it every night, but if they goof it doesn't matter "WHat's a couple of weeks without CPAP!"

Yeah, the ole hurry up and wait game. What the hay, THEY aren't the ones going w/o. A "decent" DME would at least give you a loaner or rent you one. You've got a real jewel w/that DME supplier. NOT! Sorry you are going thru this Arthur. Good luck!
