I have the s8 elite resmed. Last night I slept for a a full five hours before my first awakening-- unheard of! My question is this-- another problem I have with sleep is pain. I have a problem with my joints that makes it hard to get comfortable, so after that first awakening, I couldn't get comfy, unplugged my machine and relocated to the livingroom.
This morning the efficacy data aren't great, and I was wondering if they include my first five hours (before I unplugged) or only the time after I replugged?
(For once I had a leak rate of 0.0 (!!!), but my ahi was 13.1, AI 1.7.). I don't know if when I relocated, I had my head in a funny position which compressed my neck? I did catch myself in a near-snore once or twice...
Otherwise I have to say that after two weeks of cpap, even though my numbers aren't terrific, my morning headaches-$#@ migraines are gone, and I'm generally less achey. A definite motivator to keep the mask on.

Did you also check your Usage Data? The last screen in Usage Data tells you how many hours use last night and if the correct number of hours is there then the Leak, AHI, etc. data is correct as well.

Resmed VPAP Auto. Humidaire 3i, Simplicity & Micro masks, ResScan 3.4, S8 ResLink, Embla oximeter.
I'm not clear on the definition of sessions for a Resmed machine (CrohnieToo, do you know what it is?), in a Respironics machine a session is stopped and a new one created when either the power is interrupted (unplugged), or the blower is off (but machine still has power) for two hours or more. I would expect the Resmed to be similar in this regard.
So unplugging your machine likely caused you to start a new session instead of resuming the one you were in. That also means you didn't lose data, it just rolled into the weekly averages and the newest session (the last part of the night) is what is displayed for the 'night'.
As far as leak equalling zero, Resmeds are NOT like other machines, the Resmed tries to help you out by subtracting expected port exhaust from your leak numbers, and displaying the difference. (I think I may have posted you the calculation in another thread?) So a leak of 0 on a Resmed does not necessarily mean your mask air vents were blocked, in case you were wondering. It also doesn't mean your mask wasn't leaking, just not enough to overcome the 'assumed leak' by the machine. The assumed leak rate may or may not be correct, it depends on the type of mask you have selected on the machine. I'll refer you again to those calculations, which if I didn't post in your thread, I did post in someone else's recently

The Resmeds work on an internal, 24 hour, noon to noon clock. Unless there were to be more than 5 "sessions" in one noon to noon night all the data would be included for that one night's data as I stated above. The Resmeds store the data in the machine itself, the smart card is "just" a medium to transfer the data from the machine thru the software cable reader to the 'puter. Unplugging the Resmed will NOT lose the data.
Unlike the Respironics devices, the smart card is not needed nor inserted into the device itself UNTIL you are ready to download the data to the smart card and then to the 'puter. The smart card does have to be downloaded at least every 5 days (I don't go more than 4) to get the individual nights' data as every 5th day the first night's data is "dropped" into the total averages. So when your sleep doctor or DME supplier has you bring in your smart card to download the data, they only get the individual night's data for the previous 5 nights of use and the total overall data averages. When I travel and will be gone more than 4 nights I take more than one smart card w/me. Every 4th morning I download to one of the cards. 4 mornings later I download to a second card, etc. That way when I get home I can download the data from each card to my 'puter in sequence and still have complete individual night's data rather than just the total averages.

"OTHER VIEWABLE INFORMATION
You can also view the total number of hours of treatment (USED HRS): the number
of sessions for which the S8 ELITE was used in a usage period (USAGE)"
The boldface is mine.
This is stated on page 19, again on page 22. And the machine's display itself reads "sessions" as defined on page 34.
I posted it counts 'sessions', which it does, according to Resmed's documentation. I also posted I was unclear how a session was defined, and anticipated it was similar to Respironics'. That is perfectly legit to state.
I'm sorry Bill, your post served no helpful purpose. And it was uncalled for.

You clearly have no idea what a Resmed flow generator actually does in terms of displaying the data it records.
The only information available on the flow generator display is the total number of hours it was used in the last noon to noon (24 hour) period. It does not display any information about how many sleep sessions make up the number of hours used.
Individual sleep session data is only available through the external data interface.
Again, posting based on what you think Resmed products do, as you have done on several occasions, is not helpful to anyone!
