Does a CPAP machine cause teeth problems?

Postby alertwannab » Tue Aug 29, 2006 10:41 pm

I read a couple of posts on another site that said the CPAP machine caused their tongue to push against their teeth and created spaces and made their teeth push forward. Have you or someone that you know had this problem? I'm interested in this because I might be getting a CPAP machine soon. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I used to have a slight gap between my upper front teeth. I have noticed that the gap has definitely widened since using CPAP. I am concerned that I will develop more dental issues since my teeth are not in the greatest condition to start

I haven't noticed any visible differences as of yet, but I do wake up occasionally with my front teeth sore, feeling as though their was pressure on them all night. I already have a slight overbite to start with, so I hope it doesn't get worse over time.

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I ran a google search "cpap teeth" and got this link first.

I've been using a CPAP now for about a year, and I just found out that several thousand dollars of work on my teeth is undone. I'm just posting this to remind people to see their dentist at least every 6 months when using the machine.

What problems did your CPAP create? What type of mask do you use?
