Post 2nd sleep study - this time I fell asleep
Hi everyone,

Not much to post after not falling asleep at my 1st sleep study and then waiting 3 weeks to be told to do it again with a sleeping tablet.  I wasn't asleep by 10:30 so I took a tablet and felt like I was awake all night.  The technician came in at 5:15 and I was awake and the first thing I said to her was, I never slept did I?, she said that I did and that I did good.  But didn't say anything else.  I guess she isn't qualified to read the results.  I know they do a 2 part study and they never put a mask on me so I presume I don't have sleep apnea.  If I had it they would have put the mask on me, right?  I guess I have to wait another few weeks for the results.  It should be interesting.  Also, with sleep apnea, can you sleep better some night than others?  Some nights I do good and some night terrible.

Wendy

If you are scheduled for a two night study, they would wait until the "titration" night to apply cpap. So, the fact that they didn't put the mask on you doesn't rule out your chances of having apnea. During a "split night" study, they must both diagnose and titrate the same night.  Most physicians discourage sleep techs from discussing results with their patients.
Waiting is so hard.  Hope the sleep physician is able to help you feel better soonl

Post Congrats Wendy
Hi Wendy,

I'm so glad your second time went better for you.  Applause  I can tell you it seemed as if I didn't sleep much either, but the tech got what she needed.  Do you have a split study?  For me, I had just one night so part of it was on the CPAP.  Anyway, keep us informed.  I hope you start feeling better soon.

Melinda
