Taking off mask in the night help

Post Taking off mask in the night help
I have had the ResMed S8 Compact machine (with humidifier) with the Meridian mask for 2 weeks now.  I don't feel any better on it.  I wake up a few times in the night, and most of those times, to my suprise, I see the mask placed neatly at the side of the bed or on the table.  I never remember taking it off!  I always put it back on when I notice that it is off.  Sometimes I even try using tape to stick it to my head.

My pressure is currently set at 7.

What can I do to keep the mask on?  When I wear it, it is not uncomfortable or anything so I don't know why I would take it out in the night...  Any help is appreciated, I really want to start feeling better.

I am having the same problem.  I have been on my CPAP for a little over a week and I will find my mask next to me in the morning.  I will sort of remember taking it off, but I can't remember why I took it off.  It is so fustrating.  I do find I am feeling more rested but I can't wait until I can sleep through the night with out taking of the mask or waking up to adjust something.

Do either of your machines have a mask leak alarm? My resmed elite7 does-it's almost too low in volume but I do hear it alarm if I have a huge mask leak. Are your machines still on when you find your masks off?? Confused  Confused

I don't think mine has an alarm.  It's a ResMed Compact S8
Yeah, the machine is still going when I find the mask off..
Last night I tried wearing the mask tighter around my face.  Don't think it helped much.  I have a sleep study on the 30th and I don't want to wait that long for a change.  I was thinking of getting the Mirage Activa mask.  The technician told me that this is one that automatically adjusts the pressure, am I right?

I used to do that all the time, wake up it is placed neatly on top of my machine where I keep it and the machine off with absolutely no recollection of doing it.  Then occasionally I would wake up in the morning with it on until eventually I almost never wake up with it off.  I was always told it is just your subconscious rebeling against a foriegn thing to it.  Just keep putting it back on until every part of you is used to it and you eventually wake up every morning with it on.  Good luck and keep at it.  Applause

attach the mask with sticking plaster so the pain will partly wake you when trying to remove it and remind you not to
some also turn their CPAPs off in their sleep

I finally slept with the mask all night.  I think I figured out why I'm taking it off sometimes at night.  I realized that when I first put on the mask it is comfortable but after a while it is a little painful. I have the Breeze SleepGear with air pillows.  So I am going to go for the mask.  I like the design of the head gear so I am just going to change to a nose piece.   I am feeling better everyday, but I still am sleeping 12 hours.  I can get about 8 with the mask then I take it off in the morning and sleep for another 3 hours.  The great thing is that my acid reflux has gone away and I no longer have a swollen tongue or sore throat in the morning.  So I know the CPAP is helping.  Now its just about refining it so I can have the best possible situation.  Very Happy
