Thanks to some very helpful and kind information from Vicky I have enjoyed success with my CPAP after an initially very difficult time. I'm glad to say that my general health has been continually improving following that success. I've had a setback now however. One of my nasal passages, somewhere between the nostril entrance and the throat area feels as though acid has been dripped on one spot. That same nostril is continually streaming clear fluid which suggests that there isn't an infection but perhaps an inflammation? I was despondent last night when I had no choice but to rip off the comfy pillow mask due to the pain caused by the air (generated by a Resmed Autoset Spirit S8). The pressure has been averaging around 9-10. I'd persevered for almost 2 nights with the excruciating pain. I am particularly despondent because without the therapy I will develop a monster migraine requiring a strong narcotic injection and days of recovery. That was my life prior to my success with the therapy and I dread it happening again. My GP is on holiday. My specialist is on holiday. I am experiencing severe pain even when I breathe through during the daytime and inadvertently sniff any air up my nostril (I am having to breathe through my mouth to avoid the acid burn sensation). I also suffer BP and a moderate heart murmur so I need to take this therapy seriously.
Is there anyone there that could give me some advice please? I'm in so much pain but only in that one spot (at the moment!)
Also, a big sorry to the site managers, but I've posted as MandyDownunder before....left my story...but I couldn't find my previous registration password etc. The sleep apnea really knocks my brain around when I can't use the therapy!
To anyone reading this who is wondering if they will ever get used to their therapy I say PERSEVERE... It really is worth it. It has made such a difference. I personally just have to get over this little hurdle. So don't let this put you off! Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia!
