Post Have a question about de-sats
What is the red zone or danger level for de-satting?

My 18 month old has Centreal Apnea with de-sats to 80. We see the Cardio in 3 weeks b/c he is away at a conference until then.

When we go in we are seeing an RT for the first time too. Does this mean she will have a Bi-Pap or CPap machiene now?

Should she? Is desating to 80 dangerous?

Hi Jenna,

Blood oxygen saturation of 80% for a child is not good and should be addressed immediately. I would push to see the RT ASAP and forget the cardio for the moment.

With Central Apnoea she will certainly not have a cpap machine. I don't know enough about Central Apnoea to say anything more.

The 80% saturation level is not good and if the brain is not getting oxygen it could lead to developmental problems.

Push for an early appointment.

Daniel
