OMG .... Did anyone catch the episode of Mystery Diagnosis on Discovery Health Channel DHC (or on TLC)?  The episode entitled "Lethal Diet" was on and during the last segment they presented a patient with sleep apnea.  Harley Howard's story was nearly a carbon copy of mine!!!   He started out with heart problems/arrythmias but the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with his heart.  He was rushed to hospital several times with a racing, irregular heart and they couldn't find anything wrong.  The doctors (like my doctors) didn't have a clue.  In the story on DHC, a friend who happened to work in a sleep lab talked him into getting a sleep study and sure enough... OSA during REM sleep.   I felt like I was watching my own story on the TV!!!    It comes on again on Jul 22, 6:00 pm.  Watch it!!!   It is the third segment during the last part of the episode.

Mr. Howard, you and I went through nearly the same exact series of events.  For me, it started in 2000 with the atrial fibrillation, PVCs and tachycardias.  I wasn't diagnosed with OSA until May 2005.   I really appreicate you sharing your story with us!  It is quite a testimony!

All I can say is WOW.  So many people have said the same thing throughout the years and it is astonishing how underdiagnosed this disease is to the detrement and death of many people.  Thank you for your letter and keep fighting the fight by spreading the news about testing for OSA and CSA.
