That is how long it took you to get to those stages. 21.0 minutes for stage 1 and so on... Don't worry to much, mine was a lot worse and I'm still here.  Laughing

Your oxygen level is low, they don't like it to be under 94. My brother's was 50%, so yours could have been a lot worse. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the Latencies thing.

Hi nina66!
Overall that looks like a pretty rotten night's sleep!  RDI over 30 puts you in the severe category, and that oxygen level of 76% is certainly of concern.  These are numbers that absolutely need to be addressed, but CPAP is gonna fix 'em, so just keep moving on with your therapy, get started on CPAP, and stay compliant (that means stick with it!)

Hey Again!

Thanks for the reply, and sleepydave you must have read my mind!!

When looking at the graph charts it seems that the 76% happened in the very beginning, i'm even wondering if that too was artifact.  What about the 92%???  Can somebodies 02 sat be that low normally?

Can cpap really correct this?  I've alway's been a snorer.  I should have had tonsils and ads out years ago but they decided against it and now I think that's probably a major cause.  There's also of the issue that I've been treated for panic disorder and take Ativan regularly during the day plus zoloft.  Can this make a difference in the study??

I know it's probably too many questions, but i'm so eager to learn more and more!!

Thanks again!
Nina

Hi-
I was recently diagnosed as well...I understand your concerns.  From the research I have done, it appears as though certain drugs, i.e. sleeping medications (ambien), anxiety medicine can make it harder on a person with sleep apnea, because they relax the muscles, which can be problematic when untreated.  However, I have not read anything that says you should totally stay away from those types of meds.  The CPAP should take care of it.  Hang in there!

While I have been on a CPAP for about 6 weeks, yesterday was my first visit to the doctor since I was placed on a CPAP.  The nurse from the sleep center was going over my results.  My oxygen level dropped to 79.5 from 97.  She said that was a low point, it doesn't mean it was at that level all night.  She further stated they like to see levels above 90, or as she said "at your age" above 95. (I am 50, don't know what that means.)

Mark
