Hi Peggy, everyone's face is different, but I found the nasal mask (Breeze Dreamseal) to be extremely leaky on my face, while the Breeze nasal pillows is one of my favorite interfaces. I had two separate Breezes, one with the nasal pillows, one with the Dreamseal. I never tried to interchange the two, so not sure how that's done. I gave away the Breeze Dreamseal... don't have it here to check.
Puritan Bennett has come out with a new nasal mask called the "Dream
fit" (not to be confused with the old "Dreamseal.") I've been reading good reports from a couple of people on the cpaptalk message board about the new "Dreamfit." I've ordered one, so will be giving a try myself, soon.
According to what I've read about it on the PB website, the cushion of the Dreamfit uses a "bellows" type of seal. ResMed's Activa nasal mask, which seals extremely well even with straps very loose, uses a "bellows" design too. So, if Puritan Bennett's Dreamfit bellows-style mask works as well as the ResMed Activa does, I can well imagine the Dreamfit being a very non-leaky mask. I
think the older "Dreamseal" uses just a regular kind of cushion - not a "bellows" type of seal.
The headgear of the new Dreamfit is quite different from the headgear of the old Dreamseal. The Dreamfit does not use the Breeze headgear we are used to seeing. The new headgear has straps down low. However, the way the hose goes up in front (which I like) and over the top of the head, looks similar.
Anyway, "Dream
seal" did not work well at all for me. Breeze nasal pillows did -- and do. I hope the new Dream
fit nasal mask will seal well.
I think it was a mistake for PB to give their new nasal mask/headgear a name so much like the old one. The Dreamseal doesn't have very good press on the message boards. Many may assume the Dreamfit is the same mask with different headgear. I sure hope not!! The description of how the new mask works (bellows) certainly sounds much better. Fingers crossed.
