A little background is my son was born at 36wks and immediately showed signs of apnea and reflux. The reflux was treated. but life of sleeping hell began. Annually we bring up to his ped that he STILL doesnt sleep through the night. We went through all the "no he isnt just being stubborn" talks. over. and over. and over. We tried to explain that he isnt awake, he just tosses and turns allll ngiht lonnnnnng. At 2yrs we had his tonsils/adenoids taken out. We waited for that to help for a yr and it never really did. Finally we got a referral a few months ao to a sleep dr. He had his sleep study on Friday night. Now that was miserable.. but I am really hoping it shows something!
He fell asleep and stayed asleep for a good hr but tossed and turned and got tangled up. Then he cried that he wanted to go home, would fall asleep, startle and choke, cry the same thing, go to sleep. Repeat. Finally the tech asked me to not go in. She went in and told him I was sleeping and calmed him down, so I went to bed next door and dont know how it went from 1am to 6am.
Prior to 1am the tech showed me where he had a central apnea and when I mentioned him choking she said "That's because he's having apneas each time he goes back to sleep." then said the dr he has prefers cpap to surgery.... to me that implied she felt he'd need it. but..
in the morning I asked how it went, told her I knew she couldnt officially tell me anything, but could she see apnea? She told me I was right, she couldnt tell me anything. *sigh* I know I know.. but the night before she seemed to be willing to talk... I am wondering if her Super. wasnt in then.
Oh DS thought we were there because of his nightmares. He says he wont sleep in his bed because e has nightmares all night.
Any thoughts on this?
Suzanne..who gets HER Cpap on Wed!
