Post exercise and sleep apnea
I have just read another post about exercise and sleep apnea.  I have not yet begun treatment but had joined the local pool for water walking and a class recommended for people with arthritis.  I went to each class twice a week for 50 -60 minutes each time.  I found that the exercise increased my fatigue to the point where I could barely function.  I have stopped until I get all the testing for apnea etc out of the way and intend to go back at that point.  A trip to the local grocery store and washing a load of clothes is exhausting.   My muscles ache and I get so exhausted that I feel sick.  This is from somebody who use to train horses, clean stalls, stack bales of hay and work dogs plus keep a house and yard work.  I can't ever remember feeling rested after I slept and have been running on will power for years. Through the years and as my activity level fell I gained weight but to be honest, I never felt as if I got enough energy from anything I ate.  Now the will power is gone. Sadly years ago all they knew to do was test your blood for physical abnormalities.   Now after five years I finallly got a sleep test and am waiting to see how I'll feel after I start treatment. Anybody else with these symptoms of muscle aches and severe exhaustion?
   Comments appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Sound very classic Diane.  It is almost impossible to exercise when you are so exhausted from Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  Not only do you gain weight from the inability to exercise, many of us eat in subconscious futile attempts to crank our metabolisms up.  You will feel much more energetic after treatment!!

Thanks Vicki,
Maybe if I feel better, I will lose some of the weight I have gained through the years.  I guessed from what I have been reading that you can subconsiously eat more than you need because your body is desparately seeking energy.  I usually crave fattty starchy stuff....pastry, potatoes, etc.  I keep a lid on those cravings now for some time but have no energy to excercise and so no weight loss.  Some of the dialogue found here is beginning to make me feel better about myself.

Hi Dianne,

Have you been to a Dr. for your symptoms? Some of these symptoms sound similar to Fibromyalgia....( not that I am discounting the apnea though)
Think about this:
Food choices play a huge factor on how we feel.  Some people are much more sesnitive to foods than others. Maybe consider a food log? Write down every thing that you eat and drink and how you feel through out a day. Maybe consider tracking a time frame of you current foods and how you feel (which you have described as bad) vs an all fresh balanced diet staying within the recomended fat intake. The american heart assoc recomends not more than 30% of your diet come from fat per day.
This loging can be very time consuming, but if you found out a combination of foods coinsided with you feeling like road kill, would it be worth a dietary change? Another thing that a food log might help you with is tracking the total calorie consumption per day. That can be a real eye opener for alot of people. There are all kinds of calorie calculators out there.
Anyway, I am not a Dr. but I suggest you visit one. Make sure you take with you all the information about how you feel and what you have learned. Dont be afraid to take notes ( with dates) Do your research, so when you go in you  know what to ask...You are much less likely to get brushed off by a Dr. if you are informed about your health.
Good luck,
hope you feel better soon!
Kat

Diane Perkins...I also have had muscle aches and fatigue for almost a year now...to the point that I can't even work.  Crying or Very sad  I also suffer from dizziness.  Confused  I have had numerous tests done and am now going to a doctor this Nov. to find out if I have fibromyalgia. One of the reasons Fibro can start is by not sleeping well. I feel better since starting cpap but still have trouble with fatigue if I do too much. Cronic fatigue symdrome also have alot of the same symptoms too. I think like Kat said...you should get that checked out.
