Could this be the Secret Remedy for some of us suffering from the double whammy of Sleep Apnea and diabetes ? Could this be the Secret Cure for many other ailments ?

About two weeks ago a good friend of mine found out while in Bangalore that swishing sesame oil was good for health. Mind you one has to swish for 20 minutes every morning. I am thinking of giving this a shot as I have nothing to lose. Does any one have any hands on experience with this form of treatment ?

Dr. (med.) Karach said the OP heals totally “head-aches, bronchitis, tooth
pain, thrombosis, eczema, ulcers and diseases of stomach, intestines, heart,
blood, kidney, liver, lungs and women’s diseases. It heals diseases of
nerves, paralysis, and encephalitis. It prevents the growth of malignant
tumors, cuts and heals them. Chronic sleeplessness is cured.”
Different diseases cured by Oil Pulling

Dr. F. Karach, M.D., presented a paper before the All-Ukrainian Association.
The meeting was attended by oncologists and bacteriologists belonging to the
Academy of Science of the USSR. Dr. Karach explained an unusual simple
healing process using cold-pressed oils.
The results of this therapy invoked astonishment and doubt concerning the
contents of his report. However, after further examining the workings of the
oil therapy, one has but to then test it on oneself to prove its validity
and effectiveness. It is most astonishing that such results can be achieved
with this absolutely harmless biological healing method. This simple method
makes it possible to effectively treat the most varied diseases, in some
cases enabling one to avoid surgical intervention and the taking of
medications that can have harmful side effects. The exciting factor of this
healing method is its simplicity. It consists of swishing cold-pressed oil
in the mouth( Sunflower or Seasme, Pl. note you don't need to go for organic
oils only, A normal refined sunflower oil bought from any supermarket proven
to be effective in many people). The healing process is accomplished by the
human organism on its own. In this way it is possible to heal cells, tissue
and all organs simultaneously; the body itself gets rid of toxic waste
without disturbing the healthy microflora. Dr. Karach says human beings are
living only half their life span. They could potentially live healthy to be
140 to 150 years old.
The method

In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach you take one tablespoon
in the mouth but do not swallow it. Move Oil Slowly in the mouth as rinsing
or swishing and Dr Karach puts it as ' sip, suck and pull through the teeth'
for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process makes oil thoroughly mixed with
saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of
the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the
process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. If the oil is still
yellow, it has not been pulled long enough. It is then spit from the mouth ,
the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed
thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and good old fingers to clean.

Clean the sink properly, you can use some antibacterial soap to clean the
sink. Because the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste.
If one were to see one drop of this liquid magnified 600 times under a
microscope, one would see microbes in their first stage of development.
It is important to understand that during the oil-pulling/swishing process
one's metabolism is intensified. This leads to improved health. One of the
most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the
elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth.
The oil pulling /swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the
healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but always before
meals on an empty stomach.
Precautions

(a) Do not swallow. The oil should be spat out. But inadvertently if you
swallow there is nothing to worry. It will go out through faeces. Nothing is
to be done.
(b) If you are allergic to a particular brand of oil, change the brand of
oil or oil itself to different oil.
(c) Sunflower and Sesame oil have been found to be equally effective in
curing diseases. Other oils were not found to be as good. Do not blame oil
pulling by practicing with other oils. Use refined oils.

Results of Oil Pulling

The result of this healing research has attracted amazement and resulted in
further research. This additional research concerning Oil Therapy has now
been thoroughly documented, especially with regard to physiological
similarities between individuals. It is surprising that through this
biological healing method a wide variety of symptoms have unquestionably
disappeared without any side-effects. This simple method makes it possible
completely heal such a wide variety of diseases which would normally be
treated by an operation or by powerful or potent Drugs, usually with
significant side-effects.
The simplicity of this healing system in which Oil is swirled backwards and
forwards in the mouth, is due to the stimulating effect which it has on the
body's eliminatory system.
Through this method it is possible to heal individual cells, cell
conglomerates such as lymph nodes and more complex tissues such as internal
organs simultaneously. This occurs because the beneficial microflora
throughout the body are provided with a healthy continuum. Without this
natural bodily intrusive element evinced by the microflora the usual pattern
of human health tends to lean towards illness rather than wellness. Dr.
Karach anticipates that regular application of this treatment by reversing
this process so that wellness is the dominant state of the human body is
likely to increase the average human lifespan to approximately 150 years,
double the present life expectancy.
Dr. Karach is supported in this view by other colleagues in the world.

By means of this treatment {Oil } it is invariably the result that diseases
like migraine headaches, bronchitis, diseased teeth, arterio thrombosis,
chronic blood disorders such as leukemia, arthritis and related illnesses,
neuro physiological paralysis, eczema, gastro enteritis, peritonitis, heart
disease, kidney disease, meningitis, and women’s hormonal disorders are
completely eliminated from the organism. The benefit of Dr. Karach's method
is that the oil therapy heals the whole body in perpetuity. In terminal
diseases such as cancer, Aids and chronic infections this treatment method
has been shown to successfully replace all others. Dr. Karach has
successfully healed a chronic leukemia patient with 15 years of harsh
treatment methods behind him. Acute arthritis in 1 patient who was totally
bedridden was removed from his body in 3 days with no inflammation apparent.
NOTE: The recommended oils to use are Sunflower Oil, Seasme Oil. We are
receiving many emails about which oil to use. Our experience with thousands
of people across the globe says USE COLD PRESSED OIL as first choice, if it
is not available use REFINED OIL ( which seems to be effective in the
process too). We have observed that any oil other than SUNFLOWER or SEASME
may not be effective.

Ram, As for your mask leaking sometimes. I wash my face with a mild facial soap for sensitive skin that does not contain oils. The objective is to remove the oils from my face. Next I wash the mask with a mild soap that does not contain lots of oils. Oily soap does not seal very well as some of oily residue stays on the mask. I do not wash the mask in the morning when I take off the mask. In this manner the mask is clean and the dampness that remains after drying the mask with a towel helps to form a better seal on the face.

Cindy,
Wish it was that simple. I have always sported a full beard and this did not pose any problems with the nose mask. To suit the full face mask I now sport a french beard to minimise leaks. Has reduced leaks to some extent I should say. I believe the face mask does not suit all shapes of heads and faces. The leak tends to be more at the bridge of the nose.

I just compared the nose mask with the full face mask and believe that the nose mask is a much better and robust piece compared to the face mask that is flimsy and lacks depth. Wasted 300 dollars i should say. I must look for other brands of full face masks

I assume you are referring to the swishing of Oil in the mouth. I am willing to give it a shot and report if I discover some benefits.

Cindy,
I have stopped my Losec after You made me realise that this also causes Gasteroparesis besides metaformin.
I have also stopped the laxatives for two days now. I have cut out meat since 2nd Jan and eat veges and fruits. I am beginning to feel better already. However I am still taking my Diabex 1000mg x 2 daily. I cannot wait for my endocrinologist to take me off Diabex totally and put me on insulin as she suggested when i saw her last. I am not keen on fast acting insulin that can cause hypos. Do you believe I could get away with two shots of Lantus a day one at say 10.00 am and the other at 10.00 pm ?

Unfortunately my morning BSL seems to have gone up and this I believe is due to my new full face mask leaking and sleep apnea that is not treated by CPAP.

I am determined to get rid of as many tablets as possible and get healthier. My new health regime includes swimming three times a week and walking six kilometers three times a week or more.

For those who may be interested and did not see this article:

Deep Sleep Necessary To Keep Diabetes At Bay
In study findings, the researchers observed that slim, healthy young adults who do not experience the deepest stage of sleep known as slow-wave sleep developed insulin resistance- linked to Type 2 diabetes just after three nights.
http://www.topnews.in/deep-sleep-necess ... bay-212070

People with untreated sleep apnea often do not reach or have reduced levels of slow-wave (delta) sleep.

For those who are interested in research articles, there are several listed at the ResMed website:
ResMed Diabetes webpage - the prevalence of crossover of the conditions keep going up
'Among people with diabetes, the prevalence of sleep apnea is very high (up to 58%1). Similarly, among patients with sleep apnea both impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes have a high prevalence (in one study 50% of male sleep apnea patients had abnormal glucose tolerance, and 30% of them had diabetes2).

Edited to add: I just saw that Frances also posted about the first article in the other thread. I missed it and will leave the double coverage.

In 2002 I had laser surgery to my throat called Uvulo Plasty. Was painful but I could not even mimic a snore if I tried. In fact this improved sleep for about three years gave me better health and helped me fight off post stroke TIA's.

But by 2007 all the soft tissues in my throat have grown back with a vengence and my snoring is attrocious. This means my sleep apnea is not as well controlled by my basic cpap machine and nose mask leading to uncontrolled blood sugar levels during my sleep.

Switch from nose mask to full face mask was promising for a few days but now I feel I have jumped from the frying pan to the sugar as I am not sleeping well due to mask leaks and my bloood sugar levels have creeped up for no reason At 2.30am BSL was 8.4 and at 12.24 am it was still 8.4 ( I watched a movie and went to bed at 3.00am and got up late )

Disruption to deep slumber hurts sugar regulation

Since my return from a overseas holiday I have been struggling with my sleep apnea and my fasting blood sugar levels have gone up ( between 8.0 and 9.0 ) when I am struggling to knock it down to 6.0

With the Resmed S6, I was driving blindfolded knowing that the masks leaked but had no clue by how much. All my assessments were subjective depending on whether I felt sleepy on waking up or not. The Nose mask Mirage Activa was not bad but gave me extremely dry mouth and tongue. The Mirage Quattro full face mask was great the first two nights as my dry mouth disappeared but I was feeling extremely tired and sleepy all day. The sleep apnea technician suggested that I rent a Remstar that will give an analysis of my sleep patterns and mask leaks etc. So I Hired one

I have hired a Resprionics Remstar Auto M series CPAP. The first night the leakage was 73 litres per minute and considered too high and hence the sleepiness. The second night with refitting it dropped a bit but nothing substantial as the 40 litres per minute mark that I am told is acceptable.

Last night I switched back to my Mirage Activa Nose mask and the leakage was 38 litres per minute ( all coming out of my mouth) but then my tongue and mouth were becoming so dry despite the humidifier and I had more apneas too 3.9 as compared to 1.9 with full face mask

I am also so used to the cold compressed air from Resmed S6 that I do not like the warm humidified air on my nose and face from this Remstar. May have been ok in winter but the hot air is annoying in summer

I keep studying the Activa and the Quattro masks and their designs and both have benefits and believe a better marriage of the two designs should yield a super duper mask for all sleep apnea patients.

I am hoping Resmed people will give me an opportunity to meet with them and be part of their Research Team. Who better than a Real Veteran Hose Head of 20 Years like me to to assist with development of the Ultimate Sleep Apnea Mask ?

Folks I have been jetsetting a bit and was off to Singapore last December and travelled again to India and Kualalumpur Jan Feb 2008. I am now back and ready to tackle sleep apnea and diabetes head on.

I have been feeling crook the last few days and unable to pin point what is wrong. My BSL is not the best but is OK. My BP, INR and Platelet counts are fine too.

I am still concerned that the issue is Gasteroparesis caused by Metaformin and Losec. I need to have this investigated and need to know what tests are possible

Hello all: That was a rather interesting publication on diabetes and oil swishing. Well, I tried it for a month and I don't see any effects from it. The skies haven't opened up and my diabetes is still there.
Maybe someday we will find a cure for diabetes and sleep apnea; I'll keep praying.

My battle with sleep apnea and diabetes continue. Fasting blood sugar was 8.2 at midnighht and was 11 this morning at 9.00am. I had not eaten anything since my meal at 8.30pm. Had an extremely disturbed sleep and I am struggling to cope and get used to the Mirage Quattro Full Face mask . My sleep apnea specialist does not understand diabetes and my endocrinologist has no clue about sleep apnea.

I am most certain I am suffering from gasteroparesis. I have a burning sensation from the mouth all the way to the stomach. The whole inside of me seems to have the burning sensation. I had stopped the losec and am now back on it fearing it might be acidity.

The other thing I am unable to explain is the extreme shortness of breath and feeling a bit dizzy and wobbly in the mornings.

Cindy as suggested by you I have coaxed my endo to agree to my taking 15 units Lantus twice a day. I have started this regime this morning and will continue until I see the doctor on monday. I am still taking 1000mg metaformin twice a day after breakfast and dinner. I just eat some fruit at lunch

Any suggestions ?

Cinnamon might help to lower your blood sugar levels; why don't you drink cinnamon tea after each meal time? it might help you with your diabetes; also you mentioned that you have acid reflux i believe; a lot of people with sleep apnea have this, it seems that there is an association between the two diseases, and some people get better about their reflux while wearing the cpap machine; also it is also good that you go and see a gastroenterologist to explain him your digestive complaints and be treated; it seems that the stress levels also affects the blood sugar levels, so, those kind of complaints about your digestive systems must be addressed in order for your sugar to come down; check if there are any other signs of infection that might be making your sugar levels high. best regards and take care.
