Cyst in the back of nose thornwald cyst cause of apneas?

Postby mrjinx » Tue Dec 01, 2009 11:17 pm

I went to my ENT today he did a mueller manuver. For those who don't know its basically a endoscopy of your nose and throat where they try to duplicate what causes your apneas to see what surgery might be the best. Before even doing the endoscopy he is pretty deadset against the UPPP and tonsilectomys being curative but nonetheless wanted to see if maybe a jaw advancement or palate reconstruction might be worth it.

Anyhow, he did the endoscopy and immediately noticed a cyst in my nasal passage where my adnoids were (I had them removed when I was 3-4) the size of a thumbnail. He said it could either be a thornwald cyst or cancer but most likely benign. He said the rest of my anatomy was great.

The question is could this mass be enough to be causing me to have obstructive apneas? He thought it was possible. Has anybody here had a similar problem?
