Post Humidifier Leaking
Last week I started therapy on a new ResMed S8 Escape with Humidaire 3i. Water seeps on to my night stand at night.  Is it common for the water chamber of the humidifier to leak at the base?

No it shouldn't.  I am not familiar with the resmed but on the Respironics, if you don't get the bottom of the chamber on correctly, it will leak like a sieve...

Hello Louise ....

I have the exact same configuration and never have the problem you indicate.

Have you noticed that round metal heating plate at the bottom of your humidaire?  Look in your user's manual.  They make mention of this plate and how to make sure it is "seated" properly in the unit.  Also how to put it back in if it falls out.  I suspect if it's not perfect you might experience leaking out of the unit.  When you remove the reservoir for cleaning is when the plate is likely to (according to the manual) move.  Empty the reservoir, turn it upside down and check it out.

Don't forget to remove the humidaire from the ResMed CPAP unit first.

I checked the metal plate and it is in there tight and doesn't move at all. (and I've never taken it off).   It appears to be seated as the manual suggests.   I think I'll take it in to the place where I got it...  Something must be wrong with it.

Thanks!

One more shot at this .... see where the reservoir fits in?  I noticed on mine that there is an opportunity to leak from where the air from the CPAP comes into the chamber.  I might try to fill mine to the very top but I'm afraid the air blowing on the surface of the water might cause a leak.  Especially if the entire device is defective in its union.

It was the metal plate that wasn't seated correctly.....manufacturing defect of some sort.

I was given a new water chamber and all is well.....

Thanks for the help.
